( Some things still to be proven)
The possibly good:
* based on a very cool anime that aired in the U.S. and with the second season dawning next year Afro is looking crazy good
* screenshots show its bloody and could include multiple combos and possible finishers that upgrade.
*all the voice work will be their from the 1st season with more to probably come and any game with Samuel L. Jackson is required to include some species of snake inside some model of flying machine
* Art style seems to lend its self to cell shading/ paintbrush style and we all know crazy graphics like those can influence the gameplay aspect of any game (ex. Team Fortress 2, Prince of Persia.)
*The Music will be incredible just like the show.
*controls will probably be nothing new but still fun to control
*achievements look rather simple with some mini-games and grinding type achievements peppered in there.
*COULD reveal more backstory behind Afro and could possibly explain other questions about him
*release date doesn't clash with any other HUGE releases(Street Fighter 4, Resident Evil 5, Halo Wars)
The possibly bad:
*gameplay shows nothing groundbreaking, just safe God of War like combat with possibly more blood included.
*no multiplayer
*story will be rewarding for those who follow the series and love anime but everyone else will say it was okay but not amazing
*10-11 chapters and 2 difficulties lends itself to a max time of possibly 10-11 hours per the first run then 6-8 for the second playthrough
*DLC is questionable
* Christmas is over and im all out of money
The Verdict(for u all to take in account)
-I personally love the Afro Samurai series/long movie and if u haven't seen it you should cause its amazing. The release date was placed just ahead of when we all like to waste money but before our "must buys" reach the shelf. Music, art style, and story are there for those who appreciate its unique blend but the meat of the game will have to placed on gameplay which is yet to really be demonstrated enough to form a decent opinion of. This game is hitting me like the new Prince of Persia, good bur not great, though I firmly believe Afro Samurai will own Prince of Persia. Right now the safest thing to assume is that of you really have to buy it then do cause it will not disappoint but everyone else this might be one of the great Rents of this year.
Afro Samurai the Game -----> MUST RENT
