You should probably play it on normal difficulty first...Get the Memento's on your first play through(I just made a thread that tells you where the memento's are) and knock out as many of the achievements as you can...Get use to the combat system...Then when you feel comfortable enough, run through it on hard.

I plan on running through it again on normal, just to make sure I got the fighting down pat.

Started playing this earlier tonight. Good game! I do not believe you get an option on difficulty when you begin your first playthrough (if you do, I missed it). The game has to be completed on Normal before the Hard difficulty unlocks. Two playthroughs are required to obtain all of the achievements. Hope this helps!

yeah it does unlock after you play through the first time...I didn't realize that whenever I answered...I'm halfway through the game right now, not really looking forward to the hard difficulty...lol

yes, that is correct, there is no option to change difficulties when your first start.

I just purchased this yesterday and had a blast with it for the time that I played it.

pretty innovative with the manual aiming of the sword, and dismemberment FTW.

i just started hard and i wouldnt say its extreme but it is more difficult it helps that you can carry over all your skills because you can use the stronger combos from the start

I have not gotten to "Hard" yet, but the "Normal" difficulty just takes a little time to learn the controls, adjust to the inverted - X camera, and level-up your skills. The game is not too tough, but does require some time (especially searching for mementos). As a casual gamer, I believe the game will require 1.5-2.5 weeks to complete with 1000 GS. Definitely not a rent for me, but with your credentials (I am sure you are a better gamer than I am) you might be able to complete it in one rental. Good luck!
