Well, what do you know. After the cliffhanger ending of the first game, Assassin’s Creed is back for more. “A New Hero for a New Time,” eh? What could that possibly mean? Just judging from the cover art, this isn’t the same Altair that we’re used to. At the very least, he’s picked up some spiffy new threads, right? Nope. In Assassin’s Creed 2, players take on the role of Ezio, a young noble whose family was lost through rival ruling families' betrayals. In addition to the new character, players are going to get to explore a new setting: Renaissance-era Venice. What else is going on? Well, you’re going to have to pick up the May issue of Game Informer if you want the complete story on Ubisoft’s latest. Doesn't tell you much...but if it's anywhere near as good as the first game, I'll definitely be picking it up. Hopefully there won't be as many "collectibles." Hunting down the Templars was fun, but finding all those flags...ugh.

Posting a link to a youtube video is fine, but I suggest people actualy go to the teaser site (http://assassinscreed.us.ubi.com/assassins-creed-2/teaser/?utm_source=CRMAC2&utm_medium=AC2Teaser&utm_campaign=AC2Teaser) and check out the flash movie. At the end there is even a collectible that you can unlock if you have a webcam hooked to your computer (an XBox Live Vision camera can work).
As to the teaser itself, I'm wondering if that means you'll be in DaVinci's time... so many questions bubbling to the surface. If I'm not mistaken the text at the end reads "Game Informer 04.16.09", which might mean they have a more in-depth preview... or just more teasers.

Check out that video too, it has some interesting ideas. I like the references to flight, that'd be a good gameplay element. Gliding in from half a mile off and taking someone out would be fun.

I'm a fan of the first, and I still play it occasionally because of the free running aspect, but the story missions could've been done so much better. I hope AC2 fixes the places AC1 went wrong. The side missions were okay, but doing the same ones over and over made no sense. I hope that's fixed, and more unique buildings/free running maneuvers. Those were my only criticisms really..

I hope the wings don't mean you'll be able to glide cas I think that would ruin the gameplay, I hope its just referring to an eagle, as thats the assasins symbol

For those that don't get Game Informer, here's some key points from the preview:

Water: ability to swim has been implemented, which is excellent considering the amount of water in Venice. Can also be used as a hide spot.
Hide spots: now able to assassinate while in a hide spot, be it a body of water or a hay bale. Some wary guards may 'test' the locations now, so they're not as fool-proof
Weapons: In addition to having two hidden blades, weapon ranges are improved. New guard types, and the ability to disarm, mean being able to wield everything from dagger to polearms.
Da Vinci: noted a friend of the new assassin, one of the tools you'll use are the hidden blades.
Flight: Yes, you can fly during some missions, using Da Vinci's glider.
Kingdom: No more expansive 'kingdom' map to split up the locations. It's now a smooth transition from city to countryside and back.

I'll try to get the image in the magazine scanned - that should unlock the second section on the teaser site - sometime tonight.

Has anyone gotten the new visual code (posted above or in the May GI) to work with the camera scanning section of the teaser? I'm wondering if it's 'properly formatted' because it's not even attempting to pick it up... hmmm...
