View Full Version : Anyone else hate the Air Raid?

I'm beginning to feel like it ruins the game. Most games I play now just seem like a continuous fight for the base that houses the Air Raid bunker. It also seems that whichever team holds onto it better wins the match, so much so that in alot of games I've been forced to constantly defend the bunker from enemies who want to camp it and spam Air Raids the entire match.
Example: I had one game on Guadacanal where I sat outside the base with the Air Raid bunker nearly the entire match and didn't use it once while my teammates held 2 or 3 other bases consistently. I managed 24 kills while they came for that Air Raid bunker non-stop on foot, in jeeps, in tanks, and even in planes.
When I'm not defending it I'm always looking over my shoulder when I hear that siren to see if it's coming for me and to see if I need to get out of the way, which becomes very annoying when it's launched every couple of minutes.
I seriously think that DICE needs to consider making the recharge time for the Air Raid longer to balance out the game a bit more even though I'd be happier if it weren't in the game at all.

Agreed. Its kill radius is to big too and when in a bunker I don't think it should be able to kill you.

Right. That's another thing, I forgot that there's no surviving it whether your in a bunker, lighthouse, or other indestructable building.

I'm left defending the air raid bunker on numerous occasions, but it does help my kill count mind you when you're playing against people who don't learn from their mistakes. :) Placing C4 outside the door step works a treat for the most part, though that is until the enemy gets wise and starts blowing them up. Though i do leave a nice C4 present on the door step for anyone who's hogging the air raid.. *comes out of bunker* - *BOOM!* :)
I've experienced death inside an indestructable building too, and it wasn't a good experience to say the least. Sure, you can shoot down the bombers, but i'd at least like to be able to protect myself from the raid if all else fails. I doubt we'll see this patched, but DICE do listen to their fans, so all hopes aren't crused just yet.
Either way though, it's a great game to play with friends, and regardless of any hiccups that might be in the game, i'll continue to enjoy playing this game.
Now, bring on the DLC!

The only reason that I don't mind the air raids is because as soon as I hear the siren I hop in a plane for an easy 30 points. Aside from that, the area of effect is way to broad and getting killed in a bunker does suck. It does get irritating always having to see where the air raid is heading and then try to get out of the way.

So true, but now if i cant get a plane or a Defense Gun i wait until the strike gets pretty close and then just sprint for my life to the left or right as fast as possible!!!
But i've got to admit the matches ive been in recently Air Raids have not been too much of a threat, mainly because 1 or 2 planes will be taking the raid down or a decent shooter in a Air Defense gun can shoot 1 or 2 down and knock the remaining plane/s of course.

Yes.
I don't bother using it either, because i know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of one!
If i can't escape from the raid though, i just suicide. Hey, that's one less point for them! :)

The way I see it people have gotten down pretty good, uh, anti-air raid strategies (?). Basically we balanced the overpowered-ness of the air-raid by just figuring out ways to avoid it. I mean everyone here's said they run for the hills or do some sort of offensive thing to counter-act the air-raid. It doesn't bother me when I hear the siren. I'm just like "Yeaaaaaaaa" : D
