What's the secret of getting those goggles?

So in 1-4 i have to keep my tank alive in order to unlock one of y last 3 hats...well my problem is i can't because those suckers kill me in about 3 hits even on easy, as no one seems to have real trouble with it maybe someone knows a strategy for this... i tried exiting the tank to keep it safe but it didn't earn me my hat either

I'm starting to get frustrated by now...

EDIT: Problem solved itself, so this thread can be closed/removed/whatever ;)
