9th grade in US is about ages 14-15 so if you fall into that category you are right. (NOTE: that is just the average/usual ages, it can vary, but not usually by more than a year, maybe 2)

Freshman is the one who is new to high school in other words a ninth grader

The frosh, soph, junior, and senior stuff also applies to college. Unless you're at a two-year school or on the "5 year plan". Which some people adjust to be the "6 year plan" or "7 year plan".
