I read "Band Of Brothers" by Stephen E Ambrose, and it discusses Market Garden in the book as well.

I know it doesn't count as a book but I wouldn't mind reading the halo comic, it's done by marvel so it must be alright

I can't get hold of the halo books which is a shame really.

Are they any good? I know my friend has said in one of the books the female spartan from DoA.

Yeah I have read The DaVinci Code, sheesh the research it must have taken to write that book.
I have also read The Traveller which is meant to be the new DaVinci Code (it is nothing like it though- they say it about everything.)

Regardless The Traveller is still an awesome book.

Dude why did i continue English Literature at college, I have to read Great Expectations which looks so unappetising its unbelievable.

My English teachers always have a vendetta against me, I don't know why. My current one despises me.

And chappers I got pretty far in the first Halo book- but then I spilt coffee all over the book and never got round to re-buying it. It was a pretty awesome book if I remember- I have a memory of Captain Keyes acting heroically with his strategies in the ship.
And the spartans tracking down the covenant.

I haven't read the book- I saw the movie and it was not my thing at all- I found it rather ignorant and irritating. But to each his own.

Last book I read was The Catcher in the Rye. Sophomore reading assignment. -_-

I didn't like it, to be honest.

Last book I read on my own was The Godfather. I haven't seen the whole movie all the way through yet though.

I'm reading The Stand by Stephen King right now. I'm about a quarter of the way into it and it is a great read. If anyone likes "end of the world" scenarios this is one to pick up. It's about a virus that kills 99% of the Earth's population and it talks about the 1% that made it. It's a really good book and Stephen can write about anything and have to be good. You are going to have to make big commitment because it's about 1100 page long. Right now, I'm on page 286 and I'm loving it.

I also read the Halo books about two years ago and loved them to death. I did not read The Flood because I knew the story after beating Halo five times. Eric Nylund (author of Fall of Reach and First Strike) is a great writer and am so glad he's working with Epic on Gears of War.

Currently reading; The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead by Max Brooks.
However, I only have about 12 pages left of the book before I'm done, so I'll mention my next read, which is World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks.

...been in a zombie mood lately.

Love reading though. Problem with it is I get a book and a day or two days later and I've already read it. My wallet cannot keep up. =/

is it a hard reading level, because i have to read 1500pages for my english class and the book im reading is only about 150 pages long, so if Stephen Kings book is a somewhat hard to read, hell let me get by with 1250 pages, and it sounds like a good book.

Both Splinter Cell books are awesome and the third comes out in Nov. Besides those i thought angels and demons was better then the da vinci code.

Yeah, I think it's at a good level for someone in high school. I really like it. He gives you so many characters to go inside each one's head.

Example of people I've read about so far:
A pregnant single mother
An arsonist (I just got to this part today)
A deaf, mute who gets another handicap as the story progresses
A criminal that was on the run with another who got caught and ended up in jail during the epidemic.
A new-found hit artist, who is addicted to drugs
A guy that doesn't have the flu who is being held by the government
A criminal that walks everywhere he goes

...there's more, I just can't remember all of them.

Stephen King is a great author and I can read about anything he puts down. His writing style makes you want to know what's going to happen next.

The best part of The Stand that I've read about so far is the part where all of the citizens go crazy and the military is forced to take action. Guns to the media's heads, killing crowds of people at a time, cults rising up and killing the army's superiors, etc.

Try to find the extended version, the normal version is like 400 pages shorter.

I got it for $9.00 at my local bookstore after my library rental expired. I've had it for about 5 weeks. I went ahead and bought it because I didn't want to pay overtime on it.

Reading I, Lucifer by a guy called... Glen Jacob, I think. It's about Lucifer living on earth as a mortal for one month. Cool concept, the writing style annoys me (because he uses too many brackets) and I've started concentrating on that too much (I can't help it) because once you notice it, it sticks out (the brackets thing). Still, it's enjoyable, mostly for the concept.

I'd recommend everyone tries at least one Haruki Murakami book though. Definitely my favourite author. The only author that I'd blindly buy a new book by too.

I recommend reading "Angels & Demons" by Dan Brown. It's by the same guy who wrote "DaVinci's Code" which was also good. A&D takes place before DaVinci's and has the same main character Robert Langdon.

But I think Angels and Demons is much better. It's a must read trust me.

i purchased a book named "Battle Royale" the novel version of the film written by Koushun Takami the other day (sunday)..

FILM > http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266308/

NOVEL > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Royale

in just three days i've read around 15 of 400ish pages. I'm already really into it (as i'm a big fan of the films) and it's great (if you like all things Japanese, and 400 pages about teenagers killing each other within three days). It's something different and even if it the main story may be based upon the 'BR ACT' it doesn't loose itself in all the killing, it gives good in-depth information on the relevant and more important characters of the book / film.

The book is different to the film however, but only in minor ways.. the students remain the same but some events are flipped, added / removed or changed.

So, if you're a fan of the film (the first one) and were eager to learn or understand more about it, and haven't read the novel.. i suggest you pick up this book for 15 american dollars, 12 british pounds or 22 euros. I recommend this book only to those who are either into this type of storyline and all things Japanese, or you're a fan of the first film (Battle Royale). I 'try' restricting myself to 5 pages max a day (to make it last), which seems to be working, but i'm always tempted to read that little extra as i end up loosing myself in such a personal favourite.

my local book store said that they didnt sell the extended one anymore, only the short version of it, so im going to buy it off amazon.com or something.

i did have them order me a book call "myserious Island" i havent read it yet, but my friend said it was good, he said it was about a group of people that escape from prision using a hot-aire ballon, and they end up on some island. the people were all really smart, scientist, blacksmiths and all this other stuff and they start makeing there own tools and stuff, it sounds perrty cool.

I enjoyed Battle Royale book more than I did the film, simply because it gave more insights into the students and what they were going through. It seemed that the film cut out some of the backstory for the sake of brevity and pacing... still, both book and film are very, very good!

If you like kid's fantasy series, I just finished reading The Lost Colony, the fifth book in the Artemis Fowl series. Great series and very light reading. Before that I read the His Dark Materials series, still fantasy, but much darker and more serious. Before that I read every single Michael Crichton novel. He's my favorite author so I went back and read every fiction title he wrote. Great books! And after you read those, you can check out the movies since over half of them have been made. Next on my list is the Temeraire series. It's set in the Napoleonic Wars and both sides fight using dragons. As you can tell I read a lot! About a book a week. Here's a list of some other series that I think are great.

Eragon and Eldest... third book still to come

The Bourne Series

The Halo Novels

24 Declassified Series

The Left Behind Series

and of course Harry Potter

I'm 25 so if you aren't a kid and think the kid's books aren't for you, trust me, they are all worth a read. Or at least read them to your kids if you've got them.

The Kite Runner is about an Afghanistani kid who is best friends with his servant. It goes through his life and how the Taliban destroyed Afghanistan and the owner-slave relationship. It's literally the best book I've ever read and everytime I have reading time in my Language Arts class I reread that book. Please pick it up, you'll be amazed.
