What is your favorite sci-fi film? Mine would have to be "Aliens" with Sigourney Weaver, Bill Paxton, Lance Henrikson, and Michael Bean.

The Thing, which also happens to be my favorite film ever.

The Thing was alright, it's like every other horror film imo. I'll have to go with the basic answer, which is Star Wars. I would say Halo is my joint favourite, since i have quite a craze for Halo, but that isn't a movie... yet.

The Thing is over 20 years old and it still has the best special effects ever seen in a movie. Not very many films can hold up after 24 years. Star Wars sure can't.

Star Wars-
Event Horizon-
If you were an adolescent when Star Wars hit the scene then you would know why people adore it. Back in the late 70's and through the 80's it was one of a kind. Today it's all watered-down pumping movies out like an assembly line. "May the force be with you."

Well considering the original trilogy of star wars are in the top 250 movies, according to imdb. 2 of them in the top 15, and all of them having around 100,000 plus votes. I think that shows who most people are... It is also considered possibly the best trilogy of films ever created, and i don't think there has ever been a bigger craze then star wars. Plus that craze is still going on to this day, and it's about 20-30 years later... So you tell me who most people are now :D.

Yes, that's the Internet for you. The same kind of the people that like Star Wars are the same kind of people that would vote on IMDb.com. I'm sure a movie that doesn't scream 'nerd' wouldn't have nearly as many votes. And seriously, we all know that about 100,000 of those votes are just people going 10 here and a 10 there without giving it anymore thought then that. Casablanca and 12 Angry Men? Oh yea, that list is defiantly a great source for the best movies of all time. For christ sake, the LOTR movies have more votes then Star Wars.

Excuse me? It's one post, how does that make me a geek? I did what I did to keep people from getting confused. Besides, that isn't a double post. A double post would be if I stated something and then posted after that something to the effect of it being the exact same statement or not bringing anything new to the discussion.
Gotta love being attacked by people who take forums way to serious.

I'm well aware of that. I'm also finding it so hard to believe that you're making such a big deal out of me posting back to back to two seperate people while there are plenty of other people on this forum who are double posting without adding anything new to the discussion. Go bark at them.

I just don't think calling a member a geek for liking Star Wars is a very wise thing to do in a Sci Fi topic. If he has a problem with Sci Fi he can leave the topic, dilemna solved.

You diss star wars, even though it's probably the biggest sci fi movie around (and you'd expect it to be posted in the sci-fi topic), you pretty much made the point that i am a geek for liking star wars. Stop telling me that i'm the one in the wrong, if you were smart enough, you wouldn't have said star wars is rubbish.

1.) I never called you a geek.
2.) How did I say you were 'wrong'?
3.) I never said it was 'rubbish'.
It's great how you're just putting in new and different words for what I said. If anything, you're wrong. Just because I don't have a hard-on for Star Wars . . .
I find it hilarious how defensive you get about Star Wars. If you were a real fan you would just shrug it off and wouldn't care that I don't like it. Huh.

Well if you don't care about it, why have you posted numerous posts which offer negative comments about star wars. You know it's going to spark an argument off, and the thing is, you keep prolonging this argument. You may not have said those 3 things, but you have definitely made it clear that you think star wars and myself are "geeky" For Example: You clearly underestimate how pathetic Star Wars fans are.
Not really. As an Xbox 360 gamer, I've never tried to get it to be a full-fledged religion or dressed up as characters from it. Or even role-played as one of them.

I admit that some of them are a bit vague, but they do answer your questions. And in all honesty, i don't actually care that you don't like it, but whats the point in coming onto a message board making some bold statements about star wars, even though it's a small minority that do these things, and pretty much dissing it. And i'll say it again, this is a Sci-Fi topic, the chances of star wars being mentioned are 1/1.
Just because I don't have a hard-on for Star Wars . . . Wow, this is a great way to try and make yourself innocent. This is the sort of petty quote you have said throughout this topic.
I find it hilarious how defensive you get about Star Wars. If you were a real fan you would just shrug it off and wouldn't care that I don't like it. Huh.
Of course i'm going to defend it, if i like something, then i will defend it. For instance, if i saw a friend getting bullied i would stand in for them. This might not be as serious, but it's practically the same thing :p. Again, this shows how shallow you have been, different people react to different things, and unfortunately for you, i can get pretty annoyed at the smallest things going. And i personally don't think a real fan would just shrug it off...
Now lets just get back onto topic, and stop prolonging this darn argument.
