I'm watching this with chappers, what are your thoughts?

For those who haven't seen it its a horror film, not a great horror.
The torture bit is good, and I'm not complaining about the naked women because thats the best bit. But theres a lot of boring stuff in it- and it seems a bit simple.

compared to saw it's nothing, to be honest I wasted two hours watching that movie. But everywhere I read it was saying how good the film was thats why i really wanted to watch it.

There is more naked girls and gore.. and in one scene where the last guy is in that cafe I swear the girls become really really ugly because they weren't before.

I give it about 6/10 because the end is quite cool;

Eli Roth is one of my favorite directors. I liked Cabin Fever more then Hostel, but both were good movies compared to other trashy horror flicks as of late, such as The Grudge, Saw, and Slither. Not to mention all the lame remakes.

It's pretty good, although i think it could have been better. The main character didn't really have a mention at the beginning, you would have thought that his character would have had more to him at the start then what was offered. It's quite a cool film, but very predictable. It's probably one of the better horror films i have seen, but it could have been as i said. Also, there's a Hostel 2, which did offer a spoiler for me and raptor, which i shall not mention.

I saw a lot of the movie on youtube lol. It is horrible it got 0 stars in my city's paper i can't imagine how bad the second one is going to be because sequals always suck.

Actually, in some cases, sequels can be better. The Empire Strikes Back being a good example of this, not forgetting the last Indiana Jones film (The Last Crusade) which was probably the best of the three Indiana Jones films. The film needs improvements, and i reckon the director can see where to fix these improvements, and make it better. The only time the sequels tend not to be better the majority of the time, is when the first one is rated really high :p.

A city paper rating Hostel a 0 is probably the most obvious thing ever. They're more partial to artsy-fartsy movies that win Oscars. Me, I don't watch the Oscars. I wanted a gory movie and I got it. :D

Yep, thats why movie reviews suck. It's not like Hostel is going to go for an oscar is it, or Toy Story for having the most moving story for the year... The only way you will ever find out if you like something, is if you see it for yourself.

It's on IMDb, like i said, if you haven't seen Hostel, then don't look it up, unless you don't care about the film being spoiled.

The two girls are really hot, they are made to look uglier in the cafe scene deliberately, as a sign of what is to come.

Anyway I think Hostel got too insulted, I would much rather watch a film like this than something a newspaper would like (Brokeback Mountain.)

This was a lads movie, I also like Cabin Fever Ry- but I think I preferred this as it was more original imo.

I would never watch brokeback mountain unless i got payed lol. The only reason it did well is because everyone in hollywood is gay! (well not everyone but there is a lot)

Exactly, gay is in at the moment.
Do a love story between a guy and a girl and its unoriginal (mainly because they focus more on jokes than story, thats why I think Donnie Darko is a better love story than most Jennifer Aniston stuff.)

But I was thinking perhaps it might be a good movie, but I'm too scared to find out. Also my Mum's friend says it was really graphic.

Yeah Hostel is half and half really, to sum it up- its well worth a rental but not worth a purchase unless you are a fan of Eli Roth or you are really into torture.

To me Hostel wasnt much of a torture movie as everyone said it was. I've seen movies from the early 70s, and late 80s that are extremely violent, gory, and repulsive. Today's movies dont come close to the Euro-Horror movies from back then. Maybe some movies like Saw, and Feast. But saw appeals to me the most.

Hostel, was not really that good. I try to appreciate movies for what they are and how well the fufil heir goals. Hoatel was 80% Eurotrip, 10% Saw. Nudity in movies is perfectly acceptable, and believe me, If i want to see it, I can go see the latest teen movie. But its come to the point where they throw cheap nudity in these movies because sex sells, the overall movie was like 10 minutes of thriller bull****. not worth it, and hostel 2 will be just the same.

Saw was more people doing horrible things to themselves, this was people doing horrible things to people.

*SPOILER* yeah, and for those that have seen Hostel, the only awesome parts is where the guy running with the chainsaw trips, the guy is in the bathroom and gets his fingers cut off, and the asian girl with the hanging eyeball jumps in front of a train.

My cousin just said this:

"Nanny (he seriously calls me that). Watch Hostel. At the beginning, it's like a really good porno. After that, turn it off."

I saw it over the summer. It's scary but in a sick way because you know it wasn't all drawn from fiction. There have been accounts of this type of torture on-demand occuring in distant parts of the world.
