View Full Version : Suggestion: "Achievement Difficulty Meter" or...

I have an idea that you might want to implement so that when you go to a game on the game list, people can get an idea of how easy or hard the achievements are for that game.

You could make like a poll for each game called "achievement difficulty meter" (or a better name if you can come up with sumthin kool) that would be accessible from the game's main page, and people coudl rate how hard they found it to get achievements in that game.

In future, this would be invaluable as newer players looking for games that are easy to get points in could sift through the game list quickly and see which ones are easier.

Alternatively, you could call it "Achievement Review" and you could take submissions from players who have most or all the points in a game who would outline what's hard and what's not. I would be more than happy to do that for the games I've played up til now if you want to do it that way. Let me know if you understand where I'm coming from, and what you think of this idea.

Hell, you could do both! This site is already the best, that lets make it so damn good that everyone gets on here!

Hopefully this won't get ripped off by other sites if you do it but i guess that's inevitable =(

Indeed...*GRR's at "that other site"*

GREAT suggestion by the way Crono. I would love to be able to sort the games in a list from easiest to hardest.

I'll PM it to them since I know they're busy and don't have time to sift through the forums all the time =) Thanks for the encouragement guys!

It does sound like a great idea. Although someone of skill like me might think it harder to get the achievments on a game than someone like yourself. This would have to be non-bias if it is to truly benifit the viewers.

Achievements should be voted on by a bunch of people and then it should be decided on; making a less biased review. ;o

Agreed. That would be the ideal method of implementing this.

lol, sure that looks kool. It doesn't neccessarily have to be an animation, it could just be like how you click on a poll and it shows a chart with stats, or any other way to achieve the same means.

yeah i guess, but a gauge would add a neat little touch instead of just a chart.

Definately, I'm just saying that either would work.

An alternate approach would be just to count up the number of Gamers that has each achievement. This would inherently provide a ranked list of easy (large number of gamers has this) to difficult (very few gamers has this) achievements. Does MS provide access to this data? Perhaps not, and that's why you are recommending the review system.

Anyway, I love the goal of what you are suggesting, just a matter of how to get there. Specific to your approach, I think it would be crucial to restrict reviews to only those achievements that you have achieved.

I think this is a great idea... some sort of graphix that pops up next to the game in "Games List", for difficulty level of achievments. This rating can also equate time as well, cause something like King Kong that is simple achievments and super short could have a LOW score and something like COD:2 that has a hard completion for all achievements and a longer time frame for all achievements can be a HIGH score. Some games have easy to complete achievements but they take time, like 1000 games won or such. Makes it alot easier for people to go out and get games and improve their gamerscore.

Well said, a difficulty meter, and a time investment meter
