What are your thoughts about the game in general from the demo? (gameplay, graphics etc.)
The Demo has three single player missions on offer (one easy one against NPCs, one mediocre one against NPCs and a battleship.. and one harder one against an Armored Core). You can't build ACs in the demo (you will be able to in the full game though), but you can choose from 3 ACs for the first level, and 7 ACs (each AC varying in appearance and weapons) for the second and third levels. Being as this is obviously a demo, you're not going to get the full package, so we'll have to wait for the full game release before we can make any futher observations.
GRAPHICS
You can tell that this is a next-gen game; the motion effects whilst using overboost are spectacular, the backgrounds are nicely detailed using the blur effect to give them a 'distant' appearance, the explosions are nicely detailed, lighting effects are another step up from Enchanted Arms, during the desert missions you can actually see the heat waves rise upon the battlefield, weapon effects are always an enjoyment to see with a nice combination of both lighting and explosion effects, the CG is nicely animated and co-ordinated (but what can be expect from Japanese artists huh?).
CONTROLS
The controls are easy to learn, although you'll sometimes find yourself accidently pressing the wrong buttons here and there during the fast paced battles. The boosts take some getting used too as their controls are rather sensitive, so you won't always find yourself landing where you want to be, but with good practice, you'll become a master of the controls.
GAMEPLAY
Armored Core 4 is a very fast paced game and you'll always find yourself over-boosting across the maps from second to second, scimming across the water at over 200kmp/h, unleashing your entire arsenal from left right and center, dashing from left to right, making full use of the controls within a very short periods of time. If you enjoy fast paced games, Armored Core 4 will not dissapoint.
CONCLUSION?
Armored Core 4 returns with a bang and you'll know from an instant that it's one of the series from the moment you learn the control scheme. Speaking of 'controls' though, as i previously mentioned, they are rather sensitive at times and you'll find yourself accidently doing something that you don't want to from time to time, and that the boost & raise alititude come under the same button (L Shoulder) makes things more frustrating at times.
It's a huge leap from the last-gen consoles though and fans of the AC series should not be dissapointed.
