If it helps any, I got the three red lights on my system liek 2 months ago when I had a power outage. I turned it back on and there were the three red lights. So what did I do? Nothing lol. I left it alone for like half an hour, cane back and turned it on again and it's worked just fine ever since.

No, 3 red lights can be plenty bad. If the top left LED is the only one not to flash, it generally means a hardware failure. One of our 360s did this after 2 months. We called Microsoft on a Friday (I spent no time on hold), they had us a shipping box on Monday. We sent it back the same day, and on Friday we had a brand new unit. That is only a 1-week turnaround! The worst part? You have to send along your hard drive (if it is a premium system), so your save games go bye-bye. If you have a memory card and the 360 will boot for you, you can save 'em off, however.

Red lights always = bad. It could be minor like your cords being unplugged but even on the origanal xbox there was a red light symbolizing failure. I remember when I got my second Xbox I plugged it in right out of the box and what do you know a red light of doom. I guess people never realize that the xbox's had problems to. People were over exaggerating the hole deal that xbox put out faulty systems.
Just wait for PS3 launch and an equal number if not more of there systems will be bugged. Even so with the Revolution and Nintendo has a history of dependable products.
Although it's to bad that you fall under one of the small percentage of defaults dratsab. A quote I see from dying plenty in CoD2 "the death of one man is tragic, the death of millions is statistic." And that right there can be used for xbox's too.

You guys are starting to make me all worried about my xbox 360 now! I swear I've had no problems with it since I saw the red lights month ago. But I can;t say I'm 100% sure how many they were or what order the flashed in, I just know there was red lights.

Well, in my homebase forum, 4 out of 5 boxes crashed during the first month and had to be replaced. They really messed up the first generation.

Crono, if you video cable isn't fully seated, you can get all 4 lights to flash. My hunch is that was what you saw-if you had only 3 lights I guess it's possible it had a minor harware hiccup, but I think when you see 3 it's time to start wailing and gnashing your teeth.

The XBOX 360 intial launch had the smallest percentage of hardware failures ever for a optical drive system launch. Its just with the shortage of consoles it was harder to get replacement units so the voices yelled out a lot louder.

yeah sure...Thats probably why my dealer had to take 4 out of 10 back. So no one bull**** me about "smallest percentage" whatever. Or else I should think about starting to play lotto.

That statement was released by the National Better Business Bureau. Also, I got 4 friends that are GameStop Managers, and out of the over 350 consoles they sold the first 2 shipments, only 4 came back.. thats a real good % to me.

I also have 5 real life friends who bought an xbox 360. None of them had a problem. You can't assume from your local experience that it was the same everywhere. I'm definately going to have to say that statistics compiled by the BBB are reliable.

My only gripe is my 360 runs hot so even though it hasn't broken down, you know it can't be good for the system. Users shouldn't be worrying about it melting down.
Also, this one time it wouldn't play a porno dvd I had bought, it took me to the dashboard everytime I tried to load anything from the menu screen of the porno but that's probably porno related..

Okay update on my system!
Bad News: It is broke I called Microsoft and they are sending me a box to put it in to ship to them so it will be about 2 weeks until i get it back. I went on microsoft to check and i did all the troubleshooting tips and none of them worked, but the good thing is is that I get to keep my hard drive and game saves they said they don't need it just the system.
Good News: None

That's gotta be good news, sucks that your box is broke but hell when all is said and done you'll have a spankin new box and all your saves and stuff still in tact =)

Oh my bad. Well, that's no good lol. Well I guess, on the bright side, it's probably more reliable than anything you get out of a brand new box anyway, since they've repaired and tested it.

Wow, Dratsab-that's odd. They just quickly replaced mine. I was told to expect 2 weeks, but we had a brand new one only a week later. Of course, they told me to send in my HDD as well, so perhaps policies have changed, or something is specifically different with your situation.
Oh well- best of luck, and wishes for a speedy resolution!
