Help with Operation: Ascend on hard

I'm having trouble with the 3 Air Fortresses at the top of the spire everything else is a cake walk on that stage but I can't seem to kill them.

I used a "ninja mech"...two moonlight laser blades, very high mob and decent def, and one grenade cannon on the back. When the level starts, don't move, just select the grenade cannon and you can shoot just about every one of the enemies, while none shoot back. Boost into the tower, fly up, blowing up the fans as you go, and when you get to the top simply launch out of the pipe, land on one, double blade it, then jump back in the pipe to recharge...rinse, repeat.

Well, this mission is really really easy to get an S on. Like ScuzzyB I used a ninja mech, but I didn't bother killing any enemies besides the 3 fortresses. At the beginning I over-boosted passed all the enemies aiming for the indentation in the spire then just boosted up the inside of the spire slashing at the fans with my blades. Once I reached the top I just took out the 3 fortresses in one short time period.

i would use that mech on the fire fly /HARD/ mission. i simply rushed th center, used my granade launchers on my back to blow up those fan things and then used my plasma weapons and camped at the last part of the building and only shot at them when they passed (kinda cheesy, but it works).
