View Full Version : MY ADVISE ON BRAZIL V. SWEDEN

AFTER ABOUT 2 HOURS OF TRYING THIS I HAVE FINALLY BEAT IT ALONG WITH THE OTHER CHALLENGES IN ABOUT 8 HOURS.
I USED A 4-2-4 FORMATION AND PUT BRAZIL TO A 3-4-3. USE THE COUNTER ATTACK !!! WHEN THEY GET NEAR YOUR GOAL TRY TO STEAL THE BALL. YOUR STRIKERS SHOULD BE AT MIDFLIELD. SEND A PASS TO THE OUTSIDE THEN TRY TO SEND A THROUGH BALL TO YOUR STRIKERS AROUND THE MIDFIELD LINE. MOST OF THE TIME IT WORKS BUT YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOUR PASS IS CLOSE ENOUGH TO THEIR GOAL B/C THEY'LL JUST CATCH UP TO YOU. AROUND 3/4 THE WAY TO THE 18 SHOULD BE GOOD.
I SCORED MY FIRST GOAL AROUND 81 MIN. AND MY SECOND ONE AROUND THE 88TH MIN. WHEN GOING TO PK'S THE FINAL WAS

O O O O O
O O O O X - I GOT REALLY LUCKY !!!

WELL.... GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL !!

I have not try this yet (its the only challenge remaining for me) but it sounds pretty interesting+detailed.

Found that on another site:

«finally beat this challenge after about 100 tries, and I thought some of the stuff here was helpful, so I figured I would contribute in case it helps others. For one, here are the lineups and formations I used (modified in the Team Management option from the main screen):
BRAZIL:

FORMATION:
3-4-3

LINEUP:
Julio Cesar
Magrao
Belletti
Renato
Junior
Kleberson
Anderson
Gustavo Nery
Cicinho
Maicon
Gillberto

SWEDEN:

FORMATION:
4-2-4

LINEUP:
T. Ravelli
S. Ishizaki
J. Mjallby
O. Mellberg
P. Farnerud
C. Wilhelmsson
N. Alexandersson
K. Kallstrom
F. Ljungberg
H. Larsson
Z. Ibrahimovic

OFFENSIVE TACTIC: Counter-Attack
DEFENSIVE TACTIC: Pressing the Ball
Here are some useful tips for you to help you score....

First, for anyone who is getting annoyed by the super-human goalies, try this when you're in alone against the goalie...after you get into the 18 yard box and just before the penalty kick spot, hold the left trigger down and tap the B (shoot) button which will lob the ball over the goalie's head. Be careful not to hit the B button too hard or it will go over the net, and hitting it too soon will make the goalie catch it before it goes in. But it is MUCH easier to score this way than others.

Second, on corners especially (but also when you have the ball on the wing), hold the left trigger while you cross the ball, since it will make a low cross instead of a high lob cross. Sweden is not great at heading, but they are much better at heading low crosses than high ones.

Third, don't let Brazil ever pass it back to their defense. Make them try to press it forward because the more guys they have forward the easier it is for you to counter-attack and make good through passes. In fact, sometimes it's not bad to let them shoot the ball because your goalie can catch it and drop-kick it up to your midfielders, where you outnumber their defense and can get a quick and easy through ball for a break in alone on the goalie.

Fourth, that same concept of the goalie drop-kicking the ball applies all over, as well, since if you steal it from Brazil near your own 18 yard box it is sometimes better to get it quickly up to your midfielders and make a through pass. However, if you want to go on the ground, make quick passes. Don't sit there and hold the ball, you need to move it forward fast and trap their midfielders by your net.

Fifth, be aggressive. After you score the first goal, Brazil will go into "don't lose" mode and just pass the ball around instead of attack. Slide-tackle them and take a yellow card if you have to, this will at least stop the clock and force a set piece which they normally *** up and turn the ball over to you. When you do get the ball, don't waste time and let Brazil's midfielders get back to help their defense. This isn't to say you should panic, but the more times you try the game, the more you figure out where your players and their players will be when you get the ball and what the smart play is to make, so make it quickly.

Lastly, don't get too frustrated. Yeah it's B.S. that the challenge should be that hard, but what can you do? Either keep plugging away or give up, but it is possible to beat. Anyway, best of luck to all.»

I know there has been a few posts on this but having torn what is left of my hair out trying to complete this gc to get the 500 points, I thought I'd share my tactics!
First I changed the Brazil team on the main menu team management option to what should be their weakest side ie. take all the stars out and put slowest players in!(I know this is technically cheating but it was driving me mad) I kept the tactics 442.
Keep Sweden with 41212 but changed Larsson for Kallstrom, it's all about pace i've found. Thats it tactic wise, I always found it harder when I changed Brazils tactics!
The rest is down to you really, I'm not going to lie and say it was easy with these changes but they do give you chances!
One last tip and I think this is the key , even with the worst keeper you are unlikely to score running directly at the keeper and shooting (running onto the through ball obviously) the way I scored was when I got to the edge of the box I stopped sprinting then either went up or down a step or two then tap it in the net, obviously you need to be clear of defence for this to work!
Thats it, Hope it helps, Good luck!
By the way I won 5-4 in extra time! If anyone can do it before extra time they are a god of the game!

After my celebrations (mostly dancing) of doing aussie rules i thought that it would be smooth sailing for me from there. Very wrong. Brazil vs Sweden is desperately hard to do. Many of the recomendations on this topic really helped me to achieve my 500 points, 5-4 without even ET!!.
i thought i'd give something back on how i did it.

Firstly, the 2 ultimate ways to score as i'm sure you know are your one on ones with the goalie and chip (LT+B) and to cross it in using your wingers then bang in the head. i would say that the lob is much more efficent when it is crafted to actually score the goal then a header, but it's your choice. Using wingers to cut in and shoot is very useful. The goalie providing either a rebound into the box where you can hopefully put it away with ease, or bouncing off for a corner, in which i suggest letting your played bring it down on his chest and the smack it with a volley, got me my first goal and my third, although the third was from a massive bundle on the box from that volley, quite funny actually, lol, but proved useful

Formations

I used the practiaclly the same formation as another post but with slight differences.

BRAZIL

3-4-3

Julio Cesar
Luisao (much better to swap than magrao in my opinion)
Belletti
Renato
Junior
Alex (much lower stats then Kleberson)
Felipe (much lower stats than anderson)
Gustavo Nery
Cicinho
Maicon
Gillberto

Sweden

4-2-4

LINEUP:
Isaksson
Edman
Mjallby
Mellberg
M. Svensson
Larsson (see below)
Ljungberg
Wilhelmsson
Svensson
Kallstrom (see below)
Ibrahimovic

I changed these to around because of the pace that kallstrom gave me was much more needed, and he is overll better. (as said in another post)

I used a mixutre of wing play and counter attack (using pressure ball all the time. when it came to it counter attack won me the 5-4 before ET. Taking the ball from them around your own penalty area and then booting it to your 4 forwards and playing a through ball is the option that won it for me. Using your wider players aswell due to you 4 men vs ther 3 gives an advantage, cutting into the box and providing a shot normally gives a rebound from the keep which gave me my second goal. if you have other favourable ways i suggest you stick with them.

My final point i changed was the camera. I think i'm the first but when i changed the camera to Tele it was so much easier to see where my players where and be able to give good passes and also no where the opposing team where before they gave me a tap and got the ball, and me pursuing with my whole team trying to get it off them!, Lol what can you do. This is just a suggestion but it definately workd for me. It just gave more of a view of where eveybody was, and a much better sense of the perfect ball.

I hope this helped with my minor changes to formation and the added techniques.

I strongly recomend you just keep plugging away, i know it seems so hard but the luck will go your way in the end, best of luck to all of you

If you have any questions please add me, RiskyOrange, will be happy to tell anything you don't quite understand, or just more lil tips.

Thank you good sir for the advice. I just got this achievement about 10 minutes ago, thanks to you.

Just to append with my own spin to anyone who wants to know: I scored both my goals on headers and finishers off of headers. Sweden isn't that good at heading so there are a few tricks you should know. When you are running it up the sidelines, I find that tapping LT while running pulls more people into the box. This can be crucial as on a fast break, you only have about 2 guys who are near the box and sometimes they can be incompetent. Also, if one of the opponents heads it out, try to recover it and DO NOT use the low cross to cross it again. I did this and 9 times out of 10, it flew past the box and went out. Just hit X and use the regular cross. There's a much better chance of scoring.

It took more than a few attempts tonight (and a few choice words!) but I managed to get past Brazil, winning 7-4, without making any changes to either team in terms of players or formation.

The tactic which seemed to work for me was to play balls through the middle and chip the keeper - all of my goals were either scored directly from chipped shots or following up after the goalkeeper saved the initial shot.

It is very tricky scoring 2 goals before full time; if I didn't score by about the 83rd minute I restarted the challenge.

Hopefully the above might help...

How do you change the players and formation on Brazil? I can only change my players and formation.
