We all know what happend when he went off against Portugal in euro 2004, england got their asses kicked. I just hope it wont have the same effect on the world cup. I watched man u vs chelsea game yesterday and it looked like a nothing challenge, i still cant believe how he broke his foot from that. My heart was in my mouth when i saw him getting stretched off, i was hoping that it was just a minor injury but no it had to be englands best player out for at least 6 weeks. In six weeks time is just about when the group games start i think. This is such a major blow and makes a massive dent in Englands world cup hopes i think.
Post your views and opinions about if you think england can still win world cup without him

england with rooney = massive chance
england without rooney = small chance
hes such a big asset for the squad and imo is unreplaceable
but still, we have peter crouch
owen also has a prob aswell so our chances are gettin slimmer by the day

England have no chance either way.
would you like to prove that?
england have some of the greatest players in the world, such as gerrard, lampard, rooney, terry, owen
infact why dont i just list the whole squad
the only team(s) that could challenge england are either france or brazil

I watched the game and I couldnt believe it, at first I thought he was faking it, but obviously that's not like Rooney.
It would be a MASSIVE blow for England if he misses all of the World Cup, seriously he is one of the biggest talents around, England without him aint the same neither are United. I'm hopeful that he will be back before the 2nd game of the tounry, but that is a long shot.
Earlier, at the Spurs v Bolton game, I think Sven said that he would take Rooney, as that's what Andy Gray implied at the end...

i watched it too, he will be able to make the group stages probably if we qualify, but whether or not he will be fully fit or not we'll havw to c but i can't see us getting through the second round to be honest... maybe quarter finals at best without him

I'm praying he can make it back for the later stages because without him we really don't have a chance. If Gerrard produces stuff like the goal he scored on Saturday then hopefully he can take us far enough for Rooney to make it back.

I really can't wait for the World Cup to start it's going to immese. Do you guys think that Ashley Cole should be given a place in the starting line up, after only making a come back today for 20+ mins.

i think barry is a good player i rate him highly and im not a villa fan im a spurs fan. I also think matthew taylor of pompy is a good left back scores quite alot of goals and good ones for where he plays expecially the one against sunderland so i think he should be considerd for left back.

Yeah he's not too bad.
Rooney gave his first interview on MUTV earlier, he talked about how he was going in every day to see the specialists and how he wanted to media to leave him alone, they broadcast most of the interview on Sky Sports News.
I'll have a look round see if i can find it..

Yeah I caught that today at 6 it was rubbish. I was expecting a long interview but it was about 2 minutes long, and he only really said that he's hoping he can make it.

Yeah, it was a pretty poor interview.
I found an article on the interview on the sky sports site.
