Anyone got any ideas on this? I am having problems passing the level where you hold the wall or fort until reinforcements show up in 5th round.

If i remember i used a Maal to block the main stairs, then focused all of my attention on killing the enemy mages (using my archers & mage). They are clearly the most dangerous enemy due to their ranged attacks.

Maal can easily block the stairs so that only one enemy can attack him.

When damaged, used Ratama's "Healing Aura" on the party.

Eventually an enemy mage will freeze the water, allowing some enemy to climb up the side steps and onto the wall. But don't worry, you don't lose if they make it onto the red "X"s.

Also, because the wall is narrow it is easy to create a "bottleneck" so that they can only attack one of your party (eg Ratama). He should survive if he faces towards them and is healing every round.

Besides, by then it's probably round 4 anyway.

I've just played through that level again to check my advice, and i have to admit i was quite off the mark. The strategy is a lot easier than i made it out to be. Here's what i did:

IGNORE THE MAGES. They are annoying, but mostly all they do is try to freeze the water to open up access to the side steps.

Still Keep Maal on the step where he started. He'll easily be able to block any direct attacks by the enemy.

Still use Ratama to heal when necessary, but also you can use him (or any of the others) to throw bombs that thaw out the ice which forms - hopefully taking some of the enemy to their watery graves!

The important thing is to stop the enemy from going over an Ice-Bridge to the side steps.

If Maal is holding up well, you can "push" enemies off the ledge in front of him for quick kills, but be aware that this will allow another enemy to take it's place and Maal could suffer another attack that turn (worth it for the extra points - BUT KEEP HIM HEALED!!)

The Archers can just take pot-shots at the enemy to try and kill a few. They may take a few blows from below, but they always heal up nicely!

Eventually some enemies may make it to the side steps, but by then it is easy to hold out until the end of the 5th turn.

I hope this strategy makes more sense. (Next time i'll remember to try first, post later!)
