View Full Version : Should we keep the Glitches forum?

We have gotten a lot of praise for this forum, but we have also gotten a lot of flak. Glitches are not the greatest way to get achievements, but nonetheless they do exist. To stay neutral, both of us Monsters have decided that a "no comment" was in order. So, we leave it up to our forum members to decide.

I say burn it down. Was I allowed to vote? :P
Doesn't look like it will matter, I remember losing that last poll I started as well... /sob

I'd have to say keep it.
If game makers publish their games with flaws, we might as well list them.
Game producers still have the option of making game patches available on xbox 360 live.

PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT CAN IT!!!
If people do not want to see glitches, then they should not view that thread. I would hate for people to have to post glitches in regular forums because there are legit gamers out there and they don't want to accidently walk into a walkthrough for a glitch.

I think people are giving flak for it because they don't want to be playing someone on live and have them glitch to victory. If its a glitch just to get an achievment point then ok.

I think getting rid of it defeats the purpose of the site, aptly named ACHIEVE360POINTS. It does not say Achieve360pointsbutdontglitch.com, simply achieve the points. And I, being an avid gamer, say however you choose to do it is YOUR decision, no one elses. For this question to even be posed is proposterous.
DO NOT CONFORM and follow the sheep mentality, Monsters. If you want to be a sheep and do as the flock does, I hear Maria Carey calls her followers lambs. Let us not be lambs.
Keep the forum.

Bowing down to the "pressure" of a few to change a site that was created to YOUR liking (meaning the actual creators) is being a sheep. Be the shepard, do the site like you want. If those who can't handle glitches being posted cry about it, tell them to go to Xbox.com forums.
And no offense Crono, because I dig you and your moderating style, it was you that put this comment in the forums...
"Although I personally oppose the aforementioned techniques because of some bad experiences I've had with such things, I have learned in a poll I recently started that the majority of players out there feel this is something that should be discussed on our forums. "
The "majority" of players, hence, why is this poll even here?
I stick behind what I say. I can't say I'm sorry to those who don't like it because it's simply my opinion ;-)

That doesn't make much sense, but hey if I get "shot at" for throwing out my opinion then I guess that just means it got some people thinkin and interested

I don't care for glitches and cheats or mods or what ever nefarious method of winning is out there. But it is probably ok to hav it partitioned off. Maybe put up some kind of pop up warning that to proceed is to engage the dark side and endangers your soul in the final counting, or some similar BS.
I voted to get rid of it. My personal choice, though.

well I think theres 2 types of glitches. theres the "get achievment glitch" and theres the glitch int eh game to help u win online kind of glitch. ITs the second I'd rather not have around. and thats for the simple fact of theres enough cheating on line. why help them?

I'm not a "glitch online to win" type either. But if I can get an achievement and it harms no one or their reputation or their win/loss column, why not?

Well thats what i'm saying if they want to list glitches that help get achievments then fine by me. I just don;t want to go on GRAW or whatever and get glitched on and lose because of some glitch they found here.

Because Lancelot would have done it the "honorable" way.
Not sure what made me want to type that just now... ummm...
Yeah. I've said my piece enough times, glitch all you want as long as it doesn't effect other people's gaming experience, and due to the achievement system, and online scoreboards, etc. I am very against it on the xbox 360 and it is the primary reason I'm not as into the gamerscore anymore (although you won't believe me for a month or so since i'm still 2nd lol, once the games come out this month i'll drop out of the runnin i promise). Can't wait for oblivion =)

This will be my final thought on the matter and then I'll shut up (for fear Crono will think I'm trying to boost my forum "achievement" score LMAO). Anyway, think of it like this before you vote and perhaps you'll vote smarter.
You go into a Halo 2 game and someone is flying around. You saw it, but no one else did. Good place to find out about it? HERE
Bounce over to Quake 4 and see people with obscenely low games played in first place. Why and where do I find out about this? HERE
You go play Tiger Woods in a $100 wager room. You have 5k. You lose, you have no money. Why? Find out...HERE
Leave the forum alone, it's good to have this information here. Yes, some will use and abuse it. But think about it, if it's here and everyone knows about it then perhaps some will tell EA or RARE or Ubisoft or whomever about the glitch in their forums and it will be repaired. Or for the simple fact it's good to have the knowledge so you don't get punked in a game. Or lose your money.
That's my two cents.

Girls are suckers for Lancelots... and Yeah, I am sooo stoked for Oblivion. I took a look at the FFXI and I just wasn't impressed. I am usually a sucker for RTS and RPG games, but I just don't get into japanimation and the whole anime/androgeny-fest that defines the series.

I used to play all the japanese RPG's back when they were THE rpg's on SNES and early PS1. Something really changed after the squaresoft/enix merger, and it wasn't for the better. I didn't like FFXI at all, although I played WoW before I played FFXI and WoW makes all other MMORPG's seem boring.
Aaaaa Oblivion... I am soooooooooooo ... stoked? Can't think of a better word! Can't wait!

I think it's best to keep it, since some glitches can help people in certain games, like if theres a glitch preventing you to get a certain achievement or anything, its good to know in advance incase it screws up your save file, etc.

I think it levels the playing field and raises awareness. It's pretty clear in the last 2 years that games are growing in complexity, but the game testing has not. Obviously either testing can be blamed or go to the source! The lazy non communicating programmers adding any whimzy thing to the game without telling the coders causes most of the glitches.
Either way, an informed gamer is generally a happy gamer. Knowing what some players are doing in a corner of the environment when the score is whack, or the gameplay is suffering, eliminates a few things. Is he/she really that good or glitching.
MLB had a hell of a glitch, and I can assume a few people came here and got the answers they needed. (example)
Keep it.

C'mon guys, no room 4 babies. The people who like the glitches should be able to view them. The people who don't like em...well...there are other forums. Nobody is forcing their mouse to that category. I'm not a glitcher(the glitching methods take to much time to learn typically, for little payoff) but I do know for sure that the quickest way to get a patch from the provider is to show proof that it exists. If somebody glitches you in a game, use the feedback system for cheating and put it on the forum. We just don't need big brother telling us what we should or should not be reading! Pretty soon someone will be telling us that these achievement websites are not appropriate.

Definately keep it. This forum is glitches, tricks and cheats and although some glitches I do not believe in I do believe in the others 100% since if you can get achievements with cheats than the developers wanted it that way for a reason. Glitches I believe could also help you avoid problems even and also they could make an extremely hard achievement a bit easier.

However, when I saw references to "last nights new episode of the Cosby show" and "Romancing the Stone on VHS", I grew suspicious of the timeframe of the thread.
