Who saw this massacre? Most satisfying game I've ever had the privledge of attending. Pens got completely and utterly anihilated in every aspect of the game. Bloody Pen faces and a benched and crying Cindy Crosby just makes my day. Hell, even my year.
A local sportswriter put it best: "Crosby's nothing more than Matthew Barnaby with some skill."

Crosby, if he stays healthy, will be great. He's shown it, he just needs an actual team around him. He's got some good, veteran leadership, but I think there are too many young players on that team and no solid goaltending. Get a great goalie, some older (I don't mean 35+ guys either, i'm talkin mid to late 20's...real league guys) and they'll have something.

Staying healthy won't change the fact that he's whiney little girl. He's wearing the C, yet takes dives, cries to refs, takes cheap shots at goaltenders (then runs away to the bench), and doesn't play a minute of defense in games. (He was -3 last night, because he cherry picked the whole game, which lead to tons of odd man rushes which resulted in goals.) That's not captain material.
I'm not doubting his skill as one of the most explosive and dangerous offensive players in the game. He is, anyone that says different is a homer or doesn't know hockey. But that's all he is, an offensive player. He whines, he cries, takes dives, hides on the bench, and doesn't play defense.

Point taken. I don't pay attention the Penguins because, frankly, I don't care about them one way or the other so I don't know how responsible he is defensively. If he's going to challenge the Great One for scoring records and the like, he's going to have to get back in his own end and NOT cherry pick. I assume he whines and dives and cries to the refs mainly because for the past 2 seasons, he'd be the guy with the biggest bullseye on his back in the NHL. Everybody wanted to give him a good 'welcome', so he probably takes that into account.
Or he's just a whiny b*tch.

That's like saying that an atom bomb is a firecracker with a bit of oomph. :p

The same criticisms were leveled against Gretzky, Lemieux, Sakic, Lindros, hell even Yzerman in the early stages of their careers and yet all of those players (with the exception of Lindros) are sure-fire HOF'ers.
Give him time, he's only in his 3rd season and playing on an average team.

What's your take on him wearing the C at such a young age when you have veterans like Roberts and Recchi (Formerly) in the line up? That always confused me. Do you think they might have jumped the gun preparing him to be the all-star captain he'll be someday?
Like the Flyers are of course breeding Richards to be their Captain for the next decade. Just locked him in for 12 more years (70 mil), but put the C on someone with much much much more expirience then him in Jason Smith, which was the right call.

I definitely think giving Crosby the C right off the bat was a mistake. He may be a natural talent and even a great leader, but the NHL is different from juniors and all the other leagues. I think he would have benefitted from having somebody who was older, but not necessarly Roberts or Recchi's age. Again, a mid to late 20's, maybe very early 30's star...of course, I don't think the Pens could afford anybody that fits that bill.

For sure giving him the C at 19 was a mistake. OTOH though who else would you have made captain at the time? Recchi was clearly in decline at the time, and Roberts wasn't on the team yet (he was traded at the deadline last season).
It's tough picking the right captain sometimes, clearly in Crosby's case he wsa the focus player of that team so you could argue then that he's the leader of the team (& thus should wear the C).
Really I think that's the biggest thing that the Pens are missing right now is someone who can fill that leadership role. Roberts is there now, but while he's a valuable veteran I don't really see him as the captain of a team.

I dunno, did you watch that game with the 'Nucks and Devils the other night? Brodeur got pwned, son! LOL. I mean Aaron Miller scored from almost the blueline and he hasn't scored in 4 years and only has a career total of 24 goals! LMAO!
I know, I know it was redirected, but still kinda funny. ;)

You were looking for some? Sorry to disappoint. The game was already over by the time I got here, but then again so was the game I was babbling about. ;)
