There were a lot of threads with questions, so I thought I would put a lot of them to rest with a hastily assembled achievement "guide"...most of this is from my personal experience and experimentation with the game, and the info I got from others will be credited to them at the appropriate places. Enjoy...
-First of all, all the achvs can be attained in co-op mode, both online and local.
-There are currently 12 achvs for 200 points.
-As Ry Fry first posted, there are 19 quests, but every time you load one the dungeon and creatures are randomly generated, so no two are the same.
1. Geared Up
Equip a full suit of armor: Helmet, Armor and Weapon.
Self Explanatory...there is no requirement for the level of gear, so just equip (right trigger) the first helmet and armor you run across.
2. Dungeon Delver
Destroy all monsters in a dungeon level.
There really is no reason NOT to destroy all the creatures in every level, as each kill gives you XP and the potential of a dropped item, gold, or potion. Make sure you explore the entire map, and clear out each section as you go. If you have trouble early on, you can always come back to the first level with better armor and as a higher level.
3. Chain Master
Achieve a 10 kill chain.
There is still a big debate over exactly what consists of a "chain"...the Help section says one thing, but gameplay seems to show something else is counted. From what I saw, I believe it counts the number of the same creature you kill in quick succession, and stops counting when you go 10 seconds without killing one. I don't know what the lowest level type/ quest you can get it on, but I got mine as an archer on the Typhoon quest, by using Alter Ego on a large group of crabs. Magicism suggests using an Archer on the Gorgon boss battle by using the Raining Arrows to kill the snakes. The simple way is to simply play to beat the game, and either wait to run across the blue demon things or the weak spiders, let 8 surround you, kill them all and then keep killing them and hope for the best, or take a high level character, with good weapons, to one of the early levels and look for a full room and just go crazy!
4. Morph to Kill
Defeat 10 monsters while in Alter Ego form.
Very easy...if you are in a hurry you can spend gold on the Alter Ego potion to help your bar fill faster, but you should easily have this as one of your first achvs. Once the bar is full you will be prompted to push Y, so save it until you are in a full room, hit Y, and mash the A button away.
5. Team Work
Complete 2 quests in one continuous co-op session.
Self explanatory...I did it in local co-op, so I don't know how the game runs online (if there are a lot of dropped games or not), but worst case, you can load a second account and play two quests with a second controller idle (although you can continue an infinite amount of times, you'll want to keep them alive to save you the hassle of re-loading at checkpoints, and losing your progress...put the guy in a corner and stand in front and fight everything off, move to another room and repeat).
6. Class Act
Complete at least one quest with each character.
Self explanatory...a good tip is to play through the first quest, finish it, exit, and load a different type, then repeat a third time to see which attack you are most comfortable with for your run through the game and to level 20. You CAN share armor and gold between characters (see tips below), but unless you have a lot, it is not worth the trouble, as combining whatever three level 2's have won't get you any real edge.
7. Master Bomber
Kill 100 monsters using exploding vases.
Only "tricky" if you try to do it first. Best tip is to beat the game, then equip your character with the best armor and lowest level weapon (I used my level 19 archer with the recruit dagger equipped). Fill up on potions (just in case), the play the first quest three or four times. You can kill the small spiders and the dragonfly-looking things with one vase explosion, so either hit the vase and push it in the crowd, or hit the vase and run behind it to lead the monsters close. You also might want to push some of the vases apart, as three together can be activated by monsters attacking you, and by close vases exploding. Spiders respawn forever, as long as you don't kill the nest, so you should easily get 3-5 kills per vase.
8. God's Champion
Reach level 20 with any character.
Play through the game...playing solo nets you more experience and gold, and even with some co-op you can manage an 18 or 19 by the end of the last level. If you fall short, simply play the last level again, as it has the most XP to gain.
9. Gold Miser
Accumulate 500000 Gold.
This is 500k, and all I did to get it was stop buying anything but potions once I purchased the 96k armor and bow for my Archer. The achievement won't pop until you launch another quest, so don't worry if you break 500k and nothing happens. From my game, I am pretty certain you do have to have the full amount at once, as I had spent a good 400K in armor and weapons, and the achv never popped when I ran around with 280k or so. If you are aiming for max XP and clearing everything, you should have no problem getting this, as the best stuff becomes available pretty early (level 14 or 15). Another observation is that anything I bought in the store seemed to be dropped in the very next quest, so don't worry about your spending, as you almost always get half (50% is the sell value) your gold back.
10. Treasure Hunter
Find 15 secret rooms.
Secret rooms aren't secret at all, but do be aware that not every level has them. The easiest rooms to find are "hidden" by stacked barrels or stone columns that break a solid wall, and if you walk the edges of a room, the secret rooms will show up on your minimap, so just attack up and down the wall (if you can't see the entrance), and you should find it with ease. Most Dungeons average about 2-3...like I said, a few have none, and the most I saw was 6 on one of the last levels.
11. Merchant's Master
Buy or sell 100 items.
Another achv. there is no reason to rush. Just play through the game, collect everything, sell all the "junk", buy better gear, and by the time you get to the hard levels you will most likely be buying 10-12 potions in between quests, so you should definitely get it in one playthrough. I didn't count my transactions, so I don't know if it counts for your profile or for one character, but as soon as you hit 100 the achv pops (not when you start a quest, like the miser achv).
12. Snake Slayer
Finish the game by beating the Gorgon.
Self explanatory...beat the last boss, and achv unlocked.
Some tips for general gameplay....
Gambling- don't waste your time! Your choices are 1 gold piece or all, and it is completely random. Winning with 1 nets you ten, and I tried betting 200k about ten times but could never win (instead of confirming your loss you can go to the dash and you will still have your money).
Sharing- Co-op mode lets you drop items for your partner to pick up, giving you lots of options. First off, you can help someone out...the catch is that the three character types have unique weapons and armor, so you can't give your expensive bow to a warrior and have him use it. You CAN, however, give your expensive gear to someone, and then they can sell it, and buy the gear they need, or if you have a lot of gold you can simply buy the items for them. This leads to the "character transfer"...say that, like me, you beat the game with an Archer. I am now level 20, have 868k in gold, and am pretty much done using the character. The hope of DLC makes it silly to reset or delete it, but maybe you want to play co-op, or go through the game again as a different type. Here is what you do...start a local co-op game, load your high level/ rich character, then load player two as the type you want to use/ upgrade. Go to the trading post and buy the most expensive weapons and armor, especially the gear for the type you can't use. Exit the post, and drop everything you bought, then pick it up with the other character. Exit the game, start a new one with the alternate character type and the co-op partner from the previous game, and simply transfer everything to your profile's character. Now you have a low level character with high level armor and weapons, and extra stuff you can sell so you have gold for potions and alternate weapons you might run across (every time you either load a game or come back from a quest the store inventory is different).
