Any suggestions. (I know the font sucks. I'm on my girlfriends computer. And, I have no fonts installed)

You smudged a little to much lol. Unless you where going for a motion blur type effect, try and smudge as little as possible when blending in.

Yes. When you smudge, do SHORT strokes. But try to keep it in one direction (usually where the flow is headed to). But I suck at smudging, so that's the best advice I can give :)
