I did some experimenting and discovered this:
(while in solo mode) the units that bosses spawn do not give you points when you destroy them. Also, the powerups you pick up when fighting bosses do not give you points either, except for one boss. This is the boss that launches meteors at you and then destroys them with a giant laser (boss of level 4 maybe). If you can make it to this boss in solo mode on normal, collect about 100 - 300 powerups (each is 50 pts so 5000 - 15000 pts). Also if you happen to pick up the laser beam power up, you can destroy the bosses meteors that he launches at you for even more points (I believe each meteor destroyed is 200) I tested this for every boss and this is the only one that seems to be glitched into infinite points.
Just remember to end it eventually, especially if you only have one life left. I managed to make it to this guy three times then getting bored and accidentally getting owned by his giant laser beam.
I'm also certain if you spent ALOT of time you could place on the leaderboards fairly easy. (if you have no life)
