i feel if i get 500 gs points for any game, it is ok. some achievements are not easy to get. That is usually when i tend to trade some games in.

Right now my goal is at least 500 GS in every game I own. I try to get 1K in every game, but some things I'm not good enough at or the game is horrid. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the key is BALANCE.

Huge title, but I really don't care. Usually for games all I want to get is the SP achievements. If the multiplayer is good enough or easy enough to boost in I'll do that. E.g. DMMM is easy SP achievements but the MP ones that require 8+ players aren't for me.

H3
The Orange Box
Viva Pinata
i'm fine with not all get the achieves for the rest.

I think I would partially agree with Iamatotalnoob. I (personally) am not big with online MP achievements.
Granted, I will play the online portion of EVERY game that I own at least once, but if I don't like the atmosphere, or the MP is just plain terrible, I don't feel bad about not getting the achievements.
I'd say, on average, that I get around 500-800 GS per game so long as it's predominately a single-player oriented achievement system. If it's entirely single-player oriented, I generally go for 1000 GS.

i try to get a minimum of 500 points per game now, obviously some are far easier than others.
i find that if i enjoy the game i will be more willing to put in the hours for some of the nastier achievements but if the game doesn't grab me then i won't be too bothered. case in point, guitar hero 3, love the game but will never be good enough to get the hard and expert achievements but i still keep rocking.

i see what ya'll sayn. if the mp portion of the game is decent i try to go for the achievements. to be honest i feel guilty when i dont try to get all those points. i feel like i threw sixty bucks away.

I used to buy loads of games until I asked myself if I was buying them for the achievements or for the gameplay. Obviously, I stopped with pointless purchases.
Now I buy games for the gameplay, however I do try and get at least all of the easy achievements, if not more. I feel more satisfied getting a 2.00 K/D ratio than getting any achievement.

depends on how easy the game is. I'd be happy with 400 in GH3, but I won't be satisfied with any thing less than 900 in PGR4 or 1000 in Simpsons.

I try to get 1000 in all games, but there are some games I just can't take.

Funny thing for me is that the games that i feel like I'll never accomplish 100% achievements for, I do complete and the games that i think are an easy 100% i never complete. I tend to only go after 100% on games that I really enjoy. I can say I'm only satisfied with completing achievements for games i really enjoy. all other games, i can care less

I've only completed 4 or 5 games. I try to get at least 600 points if I can.

March 15th, 2008, 12:07 PM
I always try to go for the 100% including 0 points. I always have 3 or 4 games to go back and forth so I don't get too frustrated with some of the achievements. My "balance" is to have some easy some hard and a couple seemed-too-impossible-to-get-at-first.

I felt perfectly fine walking away from Gears of War with my incomplete gamer score.
Same with Dead Rising and Halo 3.
To get the rest of the ach's for those games would have been torture for me, or I would have been one of those people on Live "I want to do some achievements."
Not that there is anything wrong with doing that, I just didn't want to do it.
The enjoyment for me with those games and a few others was done., so I hung them up.

I usually go for at least half, all of it would be great, but I need to be realistic about some of the games ie. Gears and RS:V.

For most games 500 is good, but if it is a good game I will get more.

I always try to get atleast 600 per game. After I get 600 I am satisfied and won't waste time getting the ones that take time. Like collecting flags in assassins or cds in saints row

i must say yeah once the fun factor of a game is gone for me i tend to lose interest in the harder achievements.

I definately don't feel content getting half of the gamerscore. I want them all...but if I get them all is another story. Some of them are just crazy to get. Alot of the online stuff I don't usually get because I know I'm not good enough at any of those games to unlock them.

I dont usually go for the 1k but if the game is fun enough or easy enough then why the heck not, lol...

I will always try and set a target for a game. Generally around 75% for it. If i can get higher than that, then that is a bonus.
I'm quite satisfied after i beat my own expectations on my abilities.

i usually just beat the game, then look at what achievments are left.....if their fairly easy, then ill get em, but mainly i beat the game and move on

For the most part I always try to fully comeplete all the achievements, but if it's a game like GH:3 well then I'll settle for what ever I can get.

I usually try for the full 1000, but if it's just not going to happen..
Then I can except that and atleast try to get 70% of the game finished.

good thread topic, if i like a game then i will go for the 1000gs but if the game is garbage then i wont even both, like i bought stranglehold and ridge racer but hated it so i took them straight back, but i have to many games on my shelf that are waiting to be finished, I'll just save them for a rainy day when I'm broke.

I used to really care about completion but now I play the game and the point where getting more gamerscore becomes work I move on to something else. I play games to relax and have fun and I feel if I have to work really hard and get frustrated to get an achievement then it isnt worth it anymore.

Gamer score has completely changed gaming for the majority of us. It definitely changed gaming for me. Now, I find myself trying out all sorts of games and play games that I never would have played before. I would have never played games like Viva Pinata, Rock Band, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. But, I played them for fun and achievements. And, all of these games were actually very enjoyable for me.
For me, the gamer score that I am satisfied with depends on the game. While I am satisfied with a gamer score between 70-100 on Rock Band, I wouldn't be satisfied with anything less than 1,000 on a game like Viva Pinata. In other words, I don't have a certain number of points I try for in particular. The game dictates what I attempt to get with regards to gamer score.
Like many have said before, I would love 1,000 points on EVERY game. But, I know that this is impossible for me in many games. I will never be good enough at Call of Duty to beat it on Veteran. I just don't have the patience. I will never achieve 1,000 on Rock Band as I am a casual player and just like to have fun with that type of game.
I have a buddy that will only play games that he can achieve 1,000 on. He misses out on so many good games because he wants to have 1,000 on EVERY game. He missed out on Gears of War, Call of Duty 3, and others simply because he doesn't think he can achieve 1,000 on them. He is really missing out.
All in all, I am still an achievement wh*re. But, I don't need 1,000/1,000 to be satisfied. Actually, I just like to see that "ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED" sign pop up and hear that sweet sound. I just try for the highest total gamer score possible. I would rather have 70,000GS playing 100+ games, then have 40,000GS playing only 40 games.

I agree with Justin, it depends on the game. im satisfied with my 710G on COD4, but i wouldn't settle for anything less than 200G in UNO. I just try to get at least 1 achievement per game, so I have no 0G next to any game(except for xbox original games).

All or nothing for me. I'm such a completion percentage ***** - it's ridiculous. I always feel this need to finish a game before I move onto another one.

If its possible, Id like to get a 1000 in all games, but usually i'll check out an achievement list and plan out which ones imma go far.. even if its 100 points or 300.

I try for 625, then I'm covered if any DLC comes out. (125 for XBLA)
I've failed on a few: DOA4, Burnout:Revenge, GHIII.
However, If a game is a stinker I'll bin it and move on. I won't play junk just to keep up my %.
It's all down to my360stats that I'm chasing percentages anyway.

I'm a completionist. Not a very good one mind, but I am one.
I aim to get at least 900 in a game, due to the fact that if I have 900, 99.9% of the time I'll push myself to get that last 100 points.
Mass Effect is gonna be a bit*h...

I typically play games until I stop enjoy them. I don't attempt to unlock achievements that are so difficult or boring to attain that it takes away from the enjoyment of the game itself. IOW, I don't so much about achievements after a certain point, I just want to have fun!
