Is this game worth it?

I know that I loved the first one, but I'm not so sure whether or not I should get it (due to the short lifespan of multiplayer in games such as this). Can anyone tell me if people play online multiplayer in this anymore, or is it another barren wasteland :(. Any help is appreciated :).
