please help!!!

i am stuck at probably the most easiest part in the game...i am at episode 3/sequence3....i have got to get across the water that eats you (if that makes sence) and at the end of the deadly pool is a ladder that is being blocked by fire....what do i do please help...thanks

turn the valve to gain access to the room past the fire, then set some logs/planks etc on fire and throw them into the black goo stuff, the light from the fire will clear the black stuff from the surrounding area, repeat till you've made a path across

There are a few ways to tackle this sticky goo stuff that you will come across again.

You can use the above as thats a cool way

OR

Just equip your torch and go into FPS and move slowly shining the torch on the floor as it will make the goo part like the red sea so you can move through

OR

Throw some lit glow sticks at random places clearing a path for you

OR

Carry a lit flare.

So you have plenty of ways really to get through the freaky stuff.
