It's cumulative over the whole game. I did it in area 6, you swing over the mines and then start blocking the projectiles from the tank.

no it doesnt't in the top don sections. i realized this after blocking like 500 bullets

I did mine on first level and only deflected about 35 and it gave me the achievement for 100
