Most of the achievements are self-explanatory, but I’m writing this in case there are some questions about a particular achievement (that’s right – you know which one I’m talking about). Ok let’s get started.
1. You’re a Star: Collect one extra credit star. (10 points)
This should be the very first achievement you unlock. Since there are two randomly selected extra credit questions (denoted by a star on the chalkboard when the question is revealed), answer one of them correctly without using cheats and you’ve earned one star. That’s the good news. The bad news is that these cannot be earned in multiplayer, and that you have 104 more to collect :p
2. 30 Stars: Collect 30 extra credit stars. (20 points)
Keep answering these extra credit questions correctly, and you should have this achievement after fifteen full games (assuming you answer all of the extra credit questions correctly). If by chance you collect five stars in one category, there will be a star next to the category in the game, and no more extra credit questions will appear in that category.
3. 70 Stars: Collect 70 extra credit stars. (30 points)
Same as #2, you should unlock this after 35 games. Don’t worry if you don’t. I won’t make fun of you, but wheresurh3ad might ;)
4. Super Star: Collect all extra credit stars. (50 points)
Collect all five stars in all twenty-one categories. If you are extremely lucky you’ll get this on your fifty-third game (not going to happen). If the category you need does not appear, quit out and try again. The category you need has to come up sooner or later.
5. Smart Alec: Answer 500 questions correct. (10 points)
Just keep answering questions correctly. There are many ways of doing this. Play with a friend who is a rocket scientist, the autistic kid from the movie Mercury Rising, or a member of MENSA. Or (the way I recommend) Wikipedia the question and/or answer choices. This one will unlock the second you answer #500 correctly.
6. Fast Fingers: Get an answer correct in under 3 seconds. (10 points)
The easiest way to get this is via a True/False question at the first grade level. 95% of the questions are true (the Y button) unless the question is downright absurd (False is B in this case). Once you choose your answer (either Y or B) keep pressing A like your achievement depended on it.
7. Close Call: Peek at your classmate’s paper but don’t follow. (10 points)
It’s easiest to do this if the category is 5th Grade Spelling. Pick a classmate who isn’t strong in spelling or who seems like he gets the answer wrong more times than not (Cameron fits the bill here). Once the classmate picks the wrong answer, you pick the right one. This one sometimes seems like a matter of luck to me.
8. Smarter Than a 5th Grader: Win one million dollars in any game. (20 points)
This can be done in single player or multiplayer. Simply get to the million dollar question and answer it correctly. Be careful with spelling. The game is not “intelligent” in that if you put “ventricles” and they wanted “ventricle” you will get it wrong. If you are having difficulties in this game send me a message and I’ll help you.
9. Teachers Pet: Win one million dollars without cheating. (15 points)
If you are not sure on a question you could always use Wikipedia since in single player there is no time limit. Alternatively you can ask me and I’ll help you get it since you can get it in multiplayer. The only problem is that my focus lacks at times.
10. Ego Trip: Win one million dollars in under 5 minutes. (15 points)
I don’t recommend using Wikipedia since I am unsure whether paused time affects the achievement. However, you can always do a multiplayer game and have the person not going for the achievement drop out on question 1 (hit up on the D-pad, and hit a repeatedly – don’t stop until the next player is choosing a category). Just like 8 and 9 if you need help ask me and I’ll help out.
11. Big Win: Come in first in a multiplayer game. (5 points)
Two people enter a multiplayer game. The one not going for the achievement drops out at question 1 while the other person answers question 1 correctly and drops out at question 2. If you are enlisting my help on 8, 9, or 10 you will get this one unless you already have it.
12. The Great Achievement Hunt: For me to know and you to find out. (5 points)
After all the theory and the futility I can say that I hate this achievement more than any other. Basically you have to win $1 million on Jeff Foxworthy’s birthday. To do this I simply disconnected from Xbox Live (pulled my wireless adapter from its USB port), went to the System blade, chose “Console Settings”, chose “Clock”, and changed the date to 9/6/2009. Play the game and win $1 million dollars and you have your achievement. Thanks to the Anonymous poster who created the thread with the discovery.
That's all there is to it. Thanks to dreamweaver1984, wheresurh3ad, phoenix501, and anyone else I may have forgotten for all the help and random theory-tossing over the past day and a half. Again, if you need help on any of these let me know and I'll help.
