Quote from another forum:
"I've been saying CoD games have something like this since day one, and while the following sounds like total BS, and at first thought is, think about it for a sec before replying. What it is: After two weeks of exhaustive study, and pouring through thousands of lines of code, I have finally got the proof I need to bring this conspiracy to light. The programmers at Infinity Ward are good, but I'M better. Do not worry, all will make sense shortly... Have you ever been playing MW2 and thought "that's not right, I shot him first!"? Maybe you ambushed an enemy from behind, blasted him with 5 rounds to the chest, and then he spins around shoots you once in the foot, and you die? Everyone blames lag. Well, it's NOT lag. It's something far worse, and it just may signal the end of "fair" gaming forever. While investigating the recent claims, and going through the code of MW2, I made a discovery in one of the subroutines of the game AI. It's called "spfg.exe" (we'll call it SniperFrog since all will make sense just bear with me) and it's an AI subroutine that "evens" out the game by lending additional AI resources to a player, or by limiting the player in really cheap ways. For example, you ever start playing really good, and suddenly you go on a death streak where you can't even barely MOVE without getting killed? You'll get slaughtered like 5 times in a minute? That's the SniperFrog program in action. Alternately, maybe you'll have been having a rough streak, and suddenly you'll go on an amazing killstreak and it feels like you can't do anything wrong? Again, SniperFrog. The SniperFrog program is meant to "even" out the game. So that ALL players can feel like they're awesome at some points, even if that has to come at the expense of other players doing poorly. It's a plan by IW to sell more copies of the game. You CAN disable SniperFrog by going offline, SniperFrog is dependent on it's concious AI mainframe to work and it's only available online." "The above was a quote from a user on another forum. I do not know if he himself tested this, typed it out of nowhere, or whatever. Again, while it may sound like BS at first glance, take a moment. And PLEASE, let's get a discussion here folks? No matter our age, gender, location, etc etc, we're all smart enough to get online, read, and reply, so let's not make ourselves look like immature brats by starting a flame war." - I actually believe this to be true.

I would'nt dout if there is something like this. You never really know. Some crazy stuff happens sometimes online. Stuff that make you say wow and some stuff that make you want to pull your hair out. I don't really notice too often really crazy stuff happen to me but i know it happens. Whether it is something like sniperfrog I don't know.

I'm sure there is something in the game to try and help balance it out. However, I still do well when I play and I know people that do well also.

I also something like SniperFrog is in the game. There have been many times that i do not know how some one killed me or how i killed someone, but i think its reasonable thing to have so that everybody can have at least one good day

Boy, do I REALLY notice this. I sometimes feel that in the ways I die that it is just completely unfair and I can't really do anything about it. God, now it all makes sense.

So that 'Sniperfrog' stuff takes place in online versus? Seems a bit unfair to me...
Never experienced anything like that so far...some proof would be nice...

as much as i'd like to believe this...i'm skeptical.
its says it can be found in the code...POST THE CODE! I deal with alot of code through work, i'd like to see this. |

Yeah I'd like to see the code too, nevertheless I totally believe this is true. I'll go 28 and 2 for a few games then all of sudden I can't break even and FAMAS with stopping power takes 12 bullets or more to kill someone. Ruins the game completely.

I won't jump up and say I totally believe this but I wouldn't doubt it either. It wouldn't be the first game to implement secrethandicapping in online versus.
I was really looking forward to this game and the online play but just after a few days of playing I quit playing it online because to me something just didn't feel right about the game. I don't mean to sound cocky or like an ass but in just about every online game I play that has versus I know I'm at least better than your average player and my stats usually prove that, but my time spent playing MW2 online really made me question why there were soooooo many extremely good players out there. Not saying I did bad or anything (my k/d ratio was over 2.0) but it just seemed everyone was Ace and I had tons of moments that were just impossible or improbable (yes even for a CoD game), I can't really explain it but there were plenty of times where I just felt like I was at a disadvantage with no plausible reason, which really sucked and made me lose interest. And like that post states I also assumed it was lag or my connection in general. I was even looking into upgrading my service for a better speed. |

If this is true, they should get rid of it and use true skill rankings instead. That way good people will get paired together, and the not so good people would get paired togethe,r and nobody would need any of this BS assistance.
