Today I heard from a few different friends, one of whom works for Bethesda (makers of Fallout 3) and has a few friends that work for Infinity Ward, stating that the MW2 multiplayer servers will run like GOW2 in that we will have to deal with the whole 'host' issue here. I can't even believe to think how messed up the MP could become if the host system would be abused as much as in gears 2 with the so called 'super hosts' and all the lag switching that occurs. I really hope that this isn't the case. Anyone else heard anything similar? Thoughts?

From my understanding the are keeping the same idea like the CoD 4 server but introducing a Hostmigration like that of halo 3 but much more efficient.
Ex. I am hosting a domination on Favala, then i have to leave for tea. As I leave it will no longer say host has ended game it will freeze the game to find a new host capable of holding the amount of players in the game. This is only to my knowledge there may be other points needed to be taken into account. Hope that helps.

You must not know much about the host issue in gears. Since Gears is a 3rd person shooter game it auto has more lag, so the lag messes many things up like running speed, jumping speed, shooting speed, wall-bouncing speed and bullet spread. When you are the host, the game is what its suppose to be like. You run slower, shoot at the regular speed (off-host shoots slower), bullet spread is less, so it seems like it does more damage, but its just more bullets hitting the person and quicker. And many other things. And I can tell you must have not played Gears in a while, because there is no lag switching anymore. MW2 will be the same as COD4 except that there will be host migration. Anyway, Gears 2 takes much more skill to be good at than CoD4, and most people don't have that, because everyone quit out when they are getting their asses handed to them when the game came out. |

I have been lag switched ONCE, in the past I'm not sure how many months the update has been out. It is not a problem anymore, and it never will be a problem. |

you are so silly redraider.. you can lag switch in gears of war 2 still you get all your kills but at the end of the match youll get no points. THAT doesnt mean ppl do not lag switch, i still play in matches with ppl that use lag switch, all a lag switch is is a button on your modem (atleast mine is) and what you do to make ppl lag is.. when your host hit the button, you cant leave the button on too long because youll lose connection to xbl, but then you turn it back on and just hit it again. what that does is make ppl lag and the host can just run house
