Default Beautiful Katamari - Achievement Guide

This will be a compilation of all the information known so far about the achievements for Beautiful Katamari. If you have any additional information about any of the achievements then feel free to add your comments. Remember, this is a work in progress so you won’t necessarily find all the answers you want here, but hopefully you will find most of them.

NOTE: All Achievements unlock at the end of the stage you met the requirements in, not as soon as you meet the requirements, so you have to finish the stage or else you will not get the achievement for what you have done.

1. Manic Roller – 20 Points
Hint: Running into walls will destroy your katamari.

Requires you to smash your katamari into walls 30 times in a single run. Easiest way to do it is to go into any stage in eternal mode (if you have any unlocked), or go into the Egg School (no timer) and constantly use the dash attack to smash into a wall. If doing this in the Egg School, since you do not have access to the dash at first there you must wait until you are able to pick up the pink puzzle pieces around the edges, as soon as you are able to do this go down to the lower level and smash into the outer wall, by going down as soon as you can get past the first wall you will not be large enough to pick up Marcy yet so you don’t have to worry about finishing the level. As long as you use the dash attack to smash into the wall you will get the achievement Speedy Roller as well.

2. Quick Turner – 10 Points
Hint: Use Quick Turn to your advantage.

Requires you to use the quick turn 30 times in a single run. This can easily be done in the very first stage (Egg School), as soon as you are able to use the quick turn stop moving and just quick turn 30 times, then complete the stage.

3. Speedy Roller – 10 Points
Hint: Zip through the course with Dash.

Requires you to use the dash attack 30 times in a single run. If you use the method I said above to get the Manic Roller achievement then you will get this one as well. In any stage on eternal mode or in the Egg School just use the dash attack 30 times, then complete the stage.

4. Responsible Roller – 30 Points
Hint: Roll through the course without bumping into any objects.

Requires you to complete a stage without crashing your katamari a single time. You can do this easily in the Egg School. First, when you have to roll up onto the platform in the middle make sure you approach it very slowly so that it will not count as crashing into it when you make contact. Once you have done that just roll up the various objects in the area and the green puzzle pieces in the floor. Once the king tells you to go roll up Marcy, don’t listen to him, continue rolling up the floor as well as the pink puzzle pieces around the edges until your camera pulls out one more time, now you should be large enough to roll up all of the balls on the lower level, so go down and get Marcy while being careful not to hit the walls. There is an easier way to do this if you have any eternal stages unlocked, just start and eternal stage, roll up one item, then hit X and exit the stage.

5. Non-stop Roller – 30 Points
Hint: Roll through the course without stopping once.

Requires you to complete a stage without ever stopping your katamari once it starts rolling. The only easy way I know of to do this is if you have any eternal stages unlocked, just start an eternal stage, roll forward until you pick up one item, then hit X to exit the stage.

6. Online Roller – 5 Points
Play online.
7. Frequent Online Roller – 10 Points
Play online 10 times.
8. Resident Online Roller – 50 Points
Play online 50 times.

Should be self-explanatory, just play online. You can just create a planet and keep playing over and over again. The shortest level online is the house with a time limit of only one minute, so if you keep choosing that level you can have all 3 achievements in under an hour.

9. 100 Cookies – 5 Points
Obtain 100 Cookies.
10. 1,000 Cookies – 40 Points
Obtain 1,000 Cookies.

You earn Cookies by playing online. Everyone in the match gets Cookies, even last place, you just earn more for being in first. You can also get extra Cookies for doing specific things in online games if the Kings Bonus is turned on. You just have to play until you get 100/1,000 Cookies for these achievements, which you should have no problem doing while working towards your 50 played games.

11. 10 Presents – 5 Points
Collect 10 Presents.
12. 20 Presents – 10 Points
Collect 20 Presents.
13. 30 Presents – 20 Points
Collect 30 Presents.

Pick up royal presents while playing stages. A list of all the presents & cousins locations can be found here. There are 37 presents in the game (excluding DLC), so you can miss 7 and still get all 3 achievements.

15. 10 Cousins – 5 Points
Find 10 Cousins.
16. 20 Cousins – 10 Points
Find 20 Cousins.
17. 30 Cousins – 20 Points
Find 30 Cousins.
18. 40 Cousins – 40 Points
Find 40 Cousins.

Roll up your cousins while playing stages. A list of all the cousins & presents locations can be found here. There are 42 cousins in the game (excluding DLC), so you can miss 2 and still get all 4 achievements.

20. Collection 20% - 5 Points
Roll up 20% of the Collection.
21. Collection 40% - 10 Points
Roll up 40% of the Collection.
22. Collection 60% - 20 Points
Roll up 60% of the Collection.
23. Collection 80% - 40 Points
Roll up 80% of the Collection.

Just roll up stuff. You should get at least 60% of the collection by the time you beat the final stage, and probably be close to 80% if you don’t already have it. You can check the status of your collection and see what you are missing by going to the tree on the main island of the Princedom.

24. Request x 3 - 5 Points
Complete 3 Requests.
25. Request x 6 – 5 Points
Complete 6 Requests.
26. Request x 9 – 20 Points
Complete 9 Requests.
27. All Requests – 60 Points
Complete all Requests.

Each stage is a request, just complete all the stages in the game.

28. Mini Katamari – 5 Points
Make a katamari that's 30cm or more!

Can be done on any stage without too much trouble. The goal for the 3rd stage (Oasis Café) is 50cm so if you don’t already have this before that stage you will definitely get it there.

29. Small Katamari – 5 Points
Make a katamari that's 1m or more!

The goal for the 5th stage (Sunrise Castle) is 2m so if you don’t already have this before that stage you will definitely get it there.

30. Sorta Big Katamari – 5 Points
Make a katamari that's 5m or more!

The goal for the 6th stage (Cloud 9 Forest) is 5m so if you don’t already have this before that stage you will definitely get it there.

31. Big Katamari – 10 Points
Make a katamari that's 30m or more!

The goal for the 11th stage (Dynaville) is 500m so if you don’t already have this before that stage you will definitely get it there.

32. Jumbo Katamari – 20 Points
Make a katamari that's 500m or more!

The goal for the 11th stage (Dynaville) is 500m so if you don’t already have this before that stage you will definitely get it there.

33. Colossal Katamari – 60 Points
Make a katamari that's 10,000km or more!

The goal for the 12th stage (Schloss Kosmos) is 10,000km so if you don’t already have this before that stage you will definitely get it there.

Secret Achievements

35. Katamari Fan (Secret) – 40 Points
Completed Requests 100 times in Normal Mode.
36. Katamari Lover (Secret) - 80 Points
Completed Requests 200 times in Normal Mode.

Just repeat stages in normal mode until you have done a total of 100/200 requests. The shortest stage is Delightful Dirigible with a time limit of 3 minutes. You don’t have to play for a levels full time limit, if you pause and press X to return to the princedom as soon as you reach the goal size you will still receive credit for the stage.

37. 50 Hours Playtime (Secret) – 40 Points
Played for 50 Hours.
38. 100 Hours Playtime (Secret) – 80 Points
Played for 100 Hours.

There is no way to see how much playtime you have, so you will have to keep track of this yourself. You should get quite a bit of time while working towards the 100/200 requests complete and 100% collection but chances are even after getting those 3 achievements you won't be much past 50 hours so for the remaining time you can just leave your system turned on in eternal mode. Plug your controller in with a play & charge kit (if using wireless) to avoid it turning off and pausing the game, and make sure that system idle and auto-turn off are disabled in your system settings.

39. Collection 100% (Secret) – 80 Points
Roll up 100% of the Collection.

Self-explanatory, just complete the collection. This is probably one of the most difficult achievements in the game, I am currently at 96% on my collection but I will update this when I complete it to confirm this achievement.

40. Katamari Perfectionist (Secret) – 100 Points
Completed all Requests in Normal and Time Attack Mode.

Self-explanatory. Just complete all stages (excluding DLC stages) in both normal and time attack mode. After you have played a stage once when you replay it the King will let you choose which mode you want to play in. You can not fail a stage in time attack mode and your time does not matter for the achievement, just complete the goal no matter how long it takes you.
The following stages do not have a time attack mode:
Egg School
Roller Roaster
Chatéau Notre Desir

DLC Achievements

14. All Presents - 80 Points
Download stages and collect all Presents.

I assume this requires you to purchase all downloadable stages and find all 37 presents in the standard game as well as all presents in all the downloadable stages. It is unknown how many DLC stages there will be, but it has been confirmed that getting all of the presents in the first 4 stages to be released does not give you this achievement.

19. All Cousins - 80 Points
Download stages and find all Cousins.

I assume this requires you to purchase all downloadable stages and find all 42 cousins in the standard game as well as all cousins in all the downloadable stages. It is unknown how many DLC stages there will be, but it has been confirmed that getting all of the cousins in the first 4 stages to be released does not give you this achievement.

34. Astronomic Katamari - 90 Points
Download stages and make a katamari over 1,500,000km.

Self-explanatory. I assume you will be able to do this in the downloadable level “Milky Way Constelations”. You must have the downloadable content to obtain this achievement, even if you manage to make a katamari over 1,500,000km in one of the standard levels this achievement will not unlock. I do not know if you have to download all the levels or if you would be able to get this after downloading only one.

Unlocking Eternal Mode

You unlock the eternal mode of a stage by getting 100 (or more) points in that stage. There are 3 things that factor into your score:
1: How fast you reach the goal size.
2: How large you are at the end of the time limit.
3: How many items you have in the category that the King asks for.

One of the easiest levels to unlock eternal mode on would be Schloss Kosmos, if you roll the black hole then you automatically get 100 points, to do this you need to be somewhere around 1,000,000km. Every time you complete a stage the star/planet/whatever you create appears in space to be rolled up on that last level, so if you repeat all the levels a few times there will be more then enough stuff in space to get big enough to roll up the black hole, you can roll up the King as well.
It's also pretty easy to get 100 points on the second stage (Delightful Dirigible), you just need to get your katamari to be around 32cm, if you practice a little you should be able to reach the goal size in about half the time given, then get to somewhere between 30-35cm (my record is 35cm4mm) by the end of the level and you will almost always have enough playthings because they are all over the level.
Another fairly easy level to get 100 on is Roller Roaster, just be sure not to hit a single cold thing while picking up hot things as fast as possible to finish the level in around 2 and a half minutes.
You can find more detailed strategies for unlocking enternal mode on every level here.

Nice job man, thanks for the effort dude! It's not even 100% complete, but man you're really thorough with this stuff! Can't wait to see the finished version, keep it up.

Question-- What are the eternal stages? and when do you unlock them?

you have to get at least 100 points on each stage. if the stage requires you to roll 1m. you should finished with more than 2m.

Not exactly. It's true that you unlock the eternal mode of a stage by getting 100 (or more) points in that stage, but there are 3 things that factor into your score:
1: How fast you reach the goal size.
2: How large you are at the end of the time limit.

You don't always just need to be twice the goal size, some levels it is less, some it is more. one of the easiest levels to unlock eternal mode on would be Schloss Cosmos, if you roll the black hole then you automatically get 100 points, to do this you need to be somewhere around 1,000,000km. Every time you complete a stage the star/planet/whatever you create appears in space to be rolled up on that last level, so if you repeat all the levels a few times there will be more then enough stuff in space to get big enough to roll up the black hole, you can roll up the King as well.

I'll go ahead and add this information to the main post since I didn't think about the fact that not everyone know what eternal mode is or how to get it.

hi seiryu, you have your points there. but the katamari have to be of certain size in order to roll up the king requested items in that stage.

for example toys theme, the robots are quite big.

for example japan theme, the ninjas too

Had to remove the section listing what updates I have made because I went over the forum character limit for a single post. New updates are as follows:
Improved the information for the Play Online X Times achievements.
Updated the information about remaining secret achievement theories.

For this achievement, can I just load up an eternal mode stage and end it (maybe after rolling up a few objects)? Or does it have to be the actual timed levels and you need to complete them?

On the "Everyone's Katamari" leaderboard it shows you how many katamari's you've rolled and this number does include ones made in eternal mode in 5 seconds, so that's why I ask.

Considering the achievement says "in Normal mode" I am going to assume that it means exactly that, when choosing the mode you have to pick "normal" for it to count. I am going for the 200 requests complete right now, by my count I have about 140 in normal, but my everyone's katamari says I have around 170 rolled, so I will see if it gives it to me when everyone's katamari hits 200.

It's definitely true. My 100 Request achivement unlocked at 114 because I had rolled 13 Time Attack and 1 Eternal mode katamaris.
