-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Golden Axe Achievement Guide Written by ArabburnvictiM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cockatrice Ride the cockatrice. (5 gamerpoints) Near the beginning of the first level after the first two enemies you will see some enemies and one will be riding a very ugly creature. That is the cockatrice. Simply hit the enemy on the cockatrice, he will fall off. Walk over the cockatrice and your achievement will unlock. Omni Character Play as every character. (5 gamerpoints) I did this by starting up a game a character, quitting out, loading up with the next character, etc. until I had played with them all. That way should work. If not, play until you use a continue and THEN quit out. That should definitely work. Amazon Magic Perform the Level 6 magic attack with the Amazon. (10 gamerpoints) Playing as the Amazon character (the scantily clad woman), in the first level get all of the magic potions you can. You should be able to get about 4 from the two thieves after your first meeting with a cockatrice. One is on the top ledge and one is on the bottom so make sure you are able to get all the potions. In the first bonus round smack the hell out of that thief to gain another two potions. You should have AT LEAST 6 by then – almost enough to do it. If you don’t have enough to pull of the level 6 move (when all of your slots at the top are filled with a potion) then just play a bit of the second level until you get some more potions from the early thief. Just press Y and "Achievement Unlocked". (By the way, her maxed out magic attack is definitely the coolest of the 3 characters.) Dwarf Magic Perform a Level 3 magic attack with the Dwarf. (10 gamerpoints) Definitely the easiest magic-casting achievement seeing as the Dwarf needs the fewest potions to max out his magic. Use the same strategy as described for "Amazon Magic" and you should be able to perform that Level 3 magic attack before the end of the first level. Barbarian Magic Perform a Level 4 magic attack with the Barbarian. (10 gamerpoints) This is easier than the Amazon, but a little tougher than the Dwarf. None of these magic-casting achievements should prove much of a challenge, though. Follow the same strategy and you should be able to pull this off before the end of the first level. Potion Collect three potions from a thief or a party of thieves. (15 gamerpoints) This is possible in the first level with the two thieves, one on the ground and one on the ledge, but may be sort of tricky. Your best bet is to have some potions in stock at the end of the first level. In the first bonus level a thief will steal them. Smack him four times to easily nab four potions – one more than the requirement! It even says how to do this in the in-game menus. Also, later in the game there are thieves who are holding up to three potions themselves, enabling you to get the achievement from a single thief not in a bonus level. Turtle Village Choose any character and reach Turtle Village (Stage 3) without dying once. (10 gamerpoints) This was confusing to me when I first started. The game includes the bonus levels as "stages", so "Stage 3" is actually the second true level you play. This isn’t too hard on your own, but it is possible to be done in co-op, over live or on the same Xbox. You can even raise the amount of lives and energy you have. That makes it way easier, and you still get the achievements! Just stand back as your friend defeats all of the enemies. If he is downed, run up or down the screen (depending where you are) to make sure the enemy who downed him does not lunge at you and damage you. Simply make it past the first level (and the first bonus level, though I think it is impossible to die there) without all of your energy being depleted and you’re achievement will pop as soon as the second level ("Stage 3") starts! Survivor Choose any character and reach "Across the Sea" (Stage 5) without dying once. (20 gamerpoints) This is a bit more difficult than "Turtle Village", but still very easy in co-op, and with your lives and energy maxed out. This time you just need to make it past levels one and two (and, of course, the two bonus stages) and your achievement will unlock at the beginning of the third level ("Stage 5"). Win Beat the game. (35 gamerpoints) This is very easy (just slightly boring). You have infinite continues, so you can suck as much as you want at the game and still beat it! Of course, it makes everything easier to play co-op and with your lives and energy maxed out. Just beat the final boss (You can kill him only and not the other baddies and the game will be over. Unlike previous encounters where you have to kill the boss AND everyone else.) and your achievement will unlock during the final cutscene. (But not the FINAL FINAL cutscene where you are in the arcade and everything goes crazy. I hope that didn’t wreck anything.) Co-op Win Beat the game in local Co-op mode. (15 gamerpoints) This can be sort of frustrating if you don’t have any friends/roommates/siblings or anyone else to game with. This can NOT be done online, unfortunately. Basically just start a local Co-op match (as the description describes) with two controllers and beat the game. You can use the same tactics as you used for the "Win" achievement (and almost every other, for that matter): extra lives and extra energy. I did this myself, only moving the "dummy" controller forward when I needed to advance. It is boring and sometimes aggravating, but not too hard and very possible. The achievement unlocks after the final cutscene (but not the FINAL FINAL cutsscene haha). Online Co-op Complete an online co-op game. (10 gamerpoints) I don’t know why they capitalized "Co-op" in the local co-op achievement description but not in the online co-op achievement description… Anyways this is the achievement you get for totally sucking at this game. Basically, start up or join an online co-op game. Play until you run out of lives and must continue. The achievement should unlock right there on the spot. Congratulations for running out of lives! 10 gamerpoints! It would not help to raise your energy or lives for this one obviously. Perfect Win Beat the game without continuing. (50 gamerpoints) This would seem to be the hardest achievement in the game, and I suppose it is. But it actually isn’t that hard to obtain. You just need to make it to the end of the game without continuing, you can die a few times and it’s no big deal. Max out your energy and lives again and play with your favorite co-op partner (it helps for them to be fairly GOOD at the game). Simply play through to the end of the game, making your partner do most of the work. Be sure to have at least one potion in hand at all times though, because it helps to use your magic attacks during boss battles or in the graveyard (the worst part of the game in my opinion), even if it is just your Level 1 attack. Remember during the last boss that you (er, mainly your partner) can attack ONLY the big guy with the axe and when he dies it is DONE, no matter how many other enemies are still on screen. Good luck, this achievement isn’t as hard as it sounds if you just use these tips. CONTACT INFORMATION: You can message me or add me on Xbox Live. My gamertag is ArabburnvictiM. THANKS: Peter Moore – Announcing this game and Sonic during the Microsoft Press Conference a E3 2007 so that they were released earlier in the morning than most Arcade games. Me – For downloading it as soon as it came out and being the first person to get 200 in it. Danake – For playing through the 200 start to finish with me, we are now both gods at this game. And he is officially the second person to get 200. Sega – For making damn easy achievements for this game. I guess they had to compensate because the ones for Sonic are damn hard. At least to me, having never played much Sonic. Actually, just so you guys know, I had never played Golden Axe until the morning it was released on the XBLA :O The Monsters – I love you guys. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This Achievement Guide is property of www.achieve360points.com.
