Disclaimer: Before I get flamed, let me say something first: This is my first attempt at a guide. I may have made some errors. Like maybe you can use a cheat code to get an achievement when I thought you couldn't. I've been collecting information as best I could from around the net, and credit is due to everyone who posts in the forums. I saw a need for an achievement guide, and I'm doing my best to fill that need. If you think this guide sucks, I'm sorry, if it helps, excellent! On with the guide... Most of the achievements require "pro" or higher difficulty, and they have to be against the CPU. This means you cannot edit the sliders in the game since that changes the difficulty to "custom". I will note the achievements that you can edit the sliders or use cheats. Cheat codes: (Thanks NJDevsBUD8) 1 of 5 themick 2 of 5 phmantle 3 of 5 mightymick 4 of 5 m4murder 5 of 5 triplecrown Since you can't move the sliders, edit the rosters in management mode. Just pick a team (your favorite or whatever), make the starting pitcher and closer pitcher awesome. Make the entire batting lineup awesome as well. Pick another team (I used Washington Nationals since they are the lowest rated team), and make their lineup awful and their starting pitchers suck. IMPORTANT! – Make sure the pitchers only have one pitch, a fastball, and make sure it has a good speed and bad movement rating). This way they will only pitch fastballs to you. Play an exhibition game with you being the awesome team, and they being the bad team with one of the "fastball-only" starting pitchers. You should be able to knock out the following achievements this way: Thief Successfully steal 2 bases in a game with one player. Double Steal Make a successful double steal (2 players steal a base on the same play) (TIP: I believe you have to have runners on first and second steal second and third, you can't steal home and second base to get this) Organized Crime Have your team successfully steal 6 bases in one game. Payoff Make 10 successful "Payoff Pitches" in one game. Strikeout the Side Strike out all 3 batters you face in an inning. Super Slugger Hit 3 home runs in one game with the same player on "Pro" or higher difficulty setting. Offensive Explosion Score 20 runs in one game on "Pro" or higher difficulty setting. 5 Hit Game Have a player get 5 base hits in one game. Unhittable Strikeout 15 batters with one pitcher on "Pro" or higher difficulty setting. No-Hitter Pitched a complete game no-hitter. (has to be with one pitcher) The Cycle Hit a single, double, triple, and Home Run in one game with the same player. Astounding. (TIP: You'll need to keep track of what your guy has done in order to accomplish this. If he needs a single, don't stretch it into a double. Triples are easiest in a large ballpark or when you have a runner on first, hit a double and have your runner that was on first try to score. This will bring the throw to the plate allowing more time for your batter to reach third safely) Play another game with your superteam against a bad (but unedited) to get the following achievements. The reason to not use the awful team is you need them to be able to connect with the ball. If they're edited to suck, then they'll wiff at everything. Triple Double Turned 3 double plays in one game. "Triple Double" done baseball style. (TIP: Let them get on first with less than 2 outs, and then throw low strikes so that they hit grounders) Closing Time Have a pitcher record a "save" by coming into a close ballgame to finish off a win. (TIP: Only be ahead by 1-2 runs, and on their last inning at bat change to your super closer and don't loose or let them tie) Ejected Ejected from a ballgame? Double Check! (TIP: I got this by having a close play at first base, and have a homer robbed from me, but the best way is to just keep hitting the batters until you get ejected, and then argue and get thrown out. Make sure you have a new pitcher warming up) Cheat codes and slider Achievements: Moonshot! (20) Hit a mammoth 450+ foot home run. (TIP: The quick way is to use the power cheat code. You will still get the achievement) Burglar Stole home plate. You the man. (TIP: Play against a team who's third baseman, catcher, and pitcher have awful fielding stats. And then change the sliders in the game to increase the chances of them making a bad throw. When you have a runner on third, steal home on the pitch, turn around and get in a pickle (rundown). Keep it up as long as you can until someone makes a bad throw. Score. You should get this right away. I was able to get this even when the catcher had the ball, I was able to slide under his legs, but that might have been a fluke) Misc Achievements: Robbery! Make a wall climb catch (rob a home run.) (TIP: Cheat codes or sliders won't help you here. This one took a little time. You need to understand how to use the RightStick when running towards a wall. Here is how I did it. I played as my "roster-edited-awful" team against my awesome team. But first I edited my awful team's fielding stats to awesome, speed also. Then I played the game as the Home team, meaning the super team will bat first. I told my outfield to play deep, and then threw them fastballs down the middle until they hit a HR that I was able to catch. It saves time to restart the game when it's your turn to bat. I caught a lot of what I thought were HRs, but I think they're looking for the animation where the guy climbs the wall and turns and catches the HR instead of just jumping at the wall) Trivia Time Successfully answer a trivia question between innings of a ball game. (TIP: play an exhibition game as a team you know a lot about. Around the 3rd or 4th inning there is a trivia about your team. If you don't know it, restart or research it on the internet until you can answer this one. You do not need to finish the game to get this achievement) The season achievements are pretty fast and easy to get. Make a new franchise team and make it a 10 game season, and make sure the difficulty is on pro. You can only pick one team, so pick one that wins a lot and has good players (Yanks or Boston works well), and sim the entire season. The HR and strikeout achievements will show up right away, and the CY young and MVP will show up after you sim the playoffs. You'll have to repeat the steps probably several times, but it's very fast so it's not difficult. This will help you get the following achievements: Strikeout Leader During a season, franchise, or GM Career, have a pitcher lead his league in strikeouts. Home Run Leader During a season, franchise, or GM Career, have a player lead the league in HRs. MVP Winner Won the league MVP award. Cy Young Winner During a season, franchise, or GM Career, have a player win the Cy Young award. World Series Winner Play through a season (offline) and win the World Series. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Online Achievements: It's been reported that it REALLY helps to play a full 9-inning game online to get your "get connected" achievement before getting the other online achievements, or else you cannot get any of the other ones. I have not been able to verify this, but better safe than sorry. Online achievements need to be Ranked (Except for maybe "Get connected"). Find a buddy in the forums or somewhere that is willing to lose on purpose. Meet them in the advanced lobby and challenge them (so that it's a ranked match). Start the game, and throw at least one pitch. Have player "A" quit, player "B" says "no" to the consent. Player "A" quits anyway and the game is over and player "B" gets the win. Let player "B" win 5 in a row. That unlocks both the 3-game and 5-game winning streak. Repeat this method with your buddy to get the 10,20, and 50 win achievements (or if you enjoy the game as much as I do, take your time to get these achievements since you'll get them eventually). This will help you get the following achievements: Get Connected Play a full 9 inning game versus an online opponent (TIP: You get this if you win or loose) 3-Game Streak Go on a 3-game winning streak online. 5-Game Streak Go on a 5-game winning streak online. Win 10 Online Win ten 9 inning games online. Win 20 Online Win twenty 9 inning games online. Win 50 Online Your dedication and skill are an inspiration to us all. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Join Up Join an online league or tournament. (TIP: Easy, you just pick a league or tourney and join it, you don't have to play to get this one) League Participation Play at least one game in an online league or tournament. (TIP: Join a league or Tournament and play a full game (may be able to quit early and still get it) Online Champion Won an online tourney/league. Most impressive. (TIP: It's best to find a small group of people in the forum who are willing to let you win a tournament if you let them will a different one, or if you're awesome, then just beat everyone) Rail Lean Catch Made an acrobatic catch leaning over foul territory railing. (TIP: THANKS jbeckwith23!!!! 1. Edit your opposing team's players so that they are all lefties. 2. Edit your opposing team's players to max out all of their hitting stats. 3. Play as the Cardinals. 4. Play at Fenway Park. 6. Turn on the cheats for faster turbo and unlimited turbo and the batter up cheat (fly balls). 7. Before every batter, move your outfielders to play deep or deep right. 8. Throw 2 seam fastballs over the inside half of the plate (just a little bit off the middle). 9.
