=============================================================================== ------ UNO - Xbox 360 - Xbox LIVE Arcade ------ Written by: Xijar (Gamertag: Xyjar) ------ Version 1.00 © Copyright 2006 JCV =============================================================================== Welcome to my Achievement Guide for the XBL Arcade game UNO. It's a great game in case you were wondering, and a steal at only $5. Anyway, if you find any typos or inaccuracies within this guide, let me know. Here's an example of the format I'm using in this guide: [ ] #. Achievement Name [Achievement Points] check Achievement Description box Achievement Obtaining Tip =================================================== ----- UNO Achievement Guide =================================================== [ ] 1. UNO! [10] Successfully call UNO! and win the game. This is just a basic "win a game" achievement aimed at getting people to buy the game by saying "Hey look, you could have gotten an easy achievement right here, if only you had bought this game..." So anyway, just make sure you call UNO! when you're down to one card by pressing X, then winning and this'll be one of the first achievements you'll get. [ ] 2. Bluff [10] Successfully bluff on a Wild Draw Four twice in the same game. Some people are confused on this one, so let me explain. What it means by "Bluff" is that (with the Bluff rule turned on) you play a Wild Draw Four card anytime when that is not your only option. For example, if someone just played a Yellow 4, and it is now your turn and you have a Yellow 9, playing a Wild Draw Four card would be bluffing since you can legitimately play a normal card. However, you don't get credit for a Bluff unless the player you play the Wild Draw Four card on doesn't challenge your bluff. So you could do this by simply playing all your Wild Draw Four Cards during a single game until you get two of them to pass by unchallenged, or there's a quicker, cheaper way. You can start a Single Player House Rules game, and change Scoring Type to "No Scoring", Penalties to "Standard", Draw Type to "Draw Until Play", Forced Play to "Off", and Bluffing to "On", obviously. Then all you have to do is start the game, and on your turn just draw about 100 cards (notice how this super-powerful top-of-the-line Xbox 360 console will actually start to DROP FRAMERATE while trying to display some UNO CARDS), until you have 4-8 Wild Draw Four Cards, then just play them each turn you get until you get the achievement. [ ] 3. Multiplayer [10] Complete a 4-player game of UNO®, in any mode, on Xbox Live. You could either wait around looking for an XBL game with three people in it and join that one, or start your own and wait for three people to join/invite your friends in until all the spots are full. Then just complete any game without them leaving. [ ] 4. Quick Change Artist [15] Change the color of the discard pile 5 or more times in a single round. This was the first one I got, it's pretty simple. Just change the color by either using Wild cards, or by playing numbers on top of different-colored numbers when possible. [ ] 5. Wild Abandon [20] Go out with a Wild or Wild Draw Four card. This just means you have to win a game with the last card you set down being a Wild or Wild Draw Four card. Just play like normal and instead of using your Wilds just whenever, save them until you have no choice but to play them. Eventually you'll be able to have one left over when you win a round, and you'll get this achievement. [ ] 6. Ace! [20] Go out without ever drawing a card. This can be pretty tedious to get on a normal game since it's just 95% luck, but you've got to win a game without drawing, ever. The easiest way is to just play on Elimination since you can't draw cards on Elimination anyway. Elimination rounds are quicker than normal rounds, and if you win one, chances are you'll get the Ace! achievement. [ ] 7. Wild Thing [15] Successfully play 40 Wild or Wild Draw Four cards. The next few are pretty straight-forward. Play 40 of a certain type of card throughout all your games played, and you'll get the achievement. And just to clarify, this achievement means your combined total of played Wild and Wild Draw Four cards needs to be 40, you do not need to actually have 40 of either card played down. You could also use the strategy I gave you for the Bluff achievement, to stockpile a bunch of cards and then just play the special ones the whole round to up your card totals. But since you'll get these ones no matter what while you're on your way to getting 40 wins, it really doesn't matter. [ ] 8. Skip to My Lou [15] Play 40 Skip cards. See above. [ ] 9. Twister [15] Play 40 Reverse cards. See above. [ ] 10. High Noon [15] Play 40 Draw Two cards. See above. (Psst! Did you know you can check your stats in the Help/Options menu to see how close you are to getting these achievements?) [ ] 11. Devotee [25] Win 40 games of UNO®. This one will take a few hours of playing. Just turn the scoring off so each round counts as a game, and that alone will speed things up quite a bit. Other than that, just try to enjoy the game and play a bunch until you get it. Again, Elimination rounds typically go by a little faster, if you're in a hurry or something. [ ] 12. UNO Shark [30] Win ten 4-player games of UNO®, in any mode, on Xbox Live. This means win ten GAMES, not ten ROUNDS. So try to only play games with the scoring off to make it go by quicker. (Blah blah Elimination Mode is faster broken Record blah.) And yes, the whole game needs to have four human players in it in order to count towards the achievement.
